Darxide (Megadrive 32X)

Released exclusively in Europe in 1995 for the 32X expansion of the PAL Sega Megadrive, Darxide is one of the rarest games available for the system. PC Engine CD-ROM

The PC Engine CD-ROM, that is the CD-ROM^2 which could only mean the CD-ROM-ROM, sounded magical back in 1988. It would allow an already powerful but consumer-grade console to play games off CDs! Driller (Commodore 64)

Slow, thoughtful, sci-fi, atmospheric, tense, and impressively both in first person and fully 3D Incentive's Driller was a groundbreaking game that showcased the Freescape engine and let us glimpse into the future. The Chaos Engine (Amiga 1200)

Legendary 16-bit coders The Bitmap Brothers released the finest run-and-gun shooter the Amiga had ever seen in 1993. It was none other than the excellent The Chaos Engine, a steampunk shmup set in Victorian times, and involving time travel, quality local co-op, shiny graphics, and near perfect design. It is a true AGA classic, and a game that never aged.

Boxed Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128

It was admittedly slightly under-cooked and a tad late, but we all loved the ZX Spectrum 128. It was a beautiful machine to look at, offered much more RAM than the 48k model, had a pretty decent sound chip, and was meant to be the final Sinclair computer. It is also pretty rare these days, and if you always wanted one you should definitely be looking at this lovely ZX Spectrum 128 eBay auction.

I still consider the Sega CD (and Mega CD) an extremely and inexplicably charming machine, that somehow and despite the broken promises managed to almost live up to the promise of an emphatically different next generation of gaming. Obviously Sega's 16-bit add-on didn't set the world on fire, but it did get several great and/or interesting games released for it.

Fantastic Commodore 64 Bundle

Commodore's record selling 8-bit computer has aged gracefully, and remains an utterly wonderful platform to play, reminiscent, and create on. Also, this amazing Commodore 64 Bundle currently being auctioned on eBay is a great, and most probably cost effective way of revisiting this definitive '80s micro and its software.

The Commodore 64 and monitor on offer work fine, and are accompanied by a printer and an apparently problematic disk drive.
