Though I adored Turrican on the Amiga and quite loved it on the Commodore 64, I never actually played Super Turrican on the SNES. Wonderland by magnetic Scrolls (Atari ST)

Even though it was mainly created to show off the innovative, object-oriented Magnetic Windows interactive fiction interface, Wonderland is also a wonderfully designed, stunningly illustrated, incredibly polished, and very well written text adventure; a game I consider to be one of the finest moments of Magnetic Scrolls. Also, a game the Digital Antiquarian recently, lovingly and very thoroughly covered here.

Sega Master System Mark II

I do have a soft spot for the Sega Master System, and I still have one always within arm's reach. Sega's humble 8-bit console, you see, besides being the only console that managed to survive among Europe's home computer driven gaming market of the 1980s, had many excellent games released for it, allowed for some impressive for the era graphics, and was modestly priced.

Happily, the machine remains modestly priced to this very day, and you can grab one via this Sega Master System eBay auction. Haven't posted any classic boardgames or RPGs for quite some time, but now I can finally point you to this particularly lovely Hero Quest eBay auction. Apple HyperCard (Macintosh)

From impressive additions to the Mac demoscene, and classic games, to personal applications, public presentations, and simple databases for small businesses -- all in glorious and crisp black & white -- Apple's HyperCard for the Macintosh was a legendary piece of software. A "Personal Toolkit for Information" that defined the platform, and truly opened up software creation to the non-specialist. And here's an Ars Technica article all about it.

Sold in the wonderful place that is Parc Astérix back in 1994, this limited boxed version of Asterix and the Secret Mission for the Sega Game Gear currently up for grabs on eBay looks absolutely wonderful, and apparently comes complete with a nice collectible t-shirt. The box is sealed, obviously rare, and the auction will be over in 13 hours (at the time of writing), so better hurry.

Boxed Sega Nomad

Coming straight from Sega's weird (and not particularly successful) era, the Sega Nomad or Sega Genesis Nomad is a handheld version of the classic 16-bit Genesis console with a lovely little colour LCD screen and not as lovely battery life. Handily, it plays the exact same cartridges the home console uses, and is thus rather bulky. Oh, and it's quite rare too, especially when coming in its original box as is the case with this Sega Nomad eBay auction.

I do wish the Atari ST laptops were even better and even more successful machines than they actually were, but I also have to admit this Atari Stacy2 currently been auctioned over at eBay is, indeed, a thing of beauty.
