Metroid 2 (GameBoy)

Metroid 2, or to give it its full name Metroid II: Return of Samus, is a brilliant and unbelievably atmospheric game that could only have worked on the Nintendo Game Boy and, happily, that's the platform it was launched for. Exclusively so. Then again, chances are you know this already and are ready to hop over to eBay and bid on this Metroid 2 auction.

The FM Towns II Personal Computer

Japanese PCs have a long history of sporting brilliant, quirky ideas and wild design decisions, and are almost always lovely to look at. This particular FM Towns II I run into while searching through eBay is a fine example of the above. It's a great looking, elegant, compact machine with a built-in CD-ROM drive and dual disk drives, that comes both with a mouse and keyboard.

Now, as this update on the original line of FM Towns computers is rather obscure a) I can't say much about the things technical capabilities and b) it's probably quite rare -- at least in the West. Apparently, the PC was released in 1989 and came with the added ability to read audio CDs and upgraded graphics.

Scooby Doo's Maze Chase (Intellivision)

For the Intellivision starved Retro Treasures reader, here's a lovely auction for Scooby Doo's Maze Chase (Intellivision) on eBay. This most intriguing and not incredibly common Pac Man-like offering comes complete on a cartridge, in its box with manual and overlays.

Fresh Homebrew: Larry LLFLL (NES)

With Nintendo's infamous censorship policy defining the better part of '80s console gaming, it's no wonder that Sierra's classic Leisure Suit Larry games never appeared on the NES. Until now that is, as indie/homebrew studio KHAN Games have finally finished their excellent looking port of the original Larry game: Larry LLFLL or Larry and the Long Look for a Luscious Lover.

The seemingly wonderful adaptation of the classic adventure has everything we all loved in the original, a refined interface and will run on your NES regardless of region. This means you'll actually be able to use the iconic joypad to buy a ribbed, oddly flavoured, yellow rubber, gamble and try to find love. 

The Larry LLFLL cartridge will set you back an incredibly reasonable $50 and will come complete with dust sleeve, full colour manual, box and on board flash memory to save your games. Also, it looks fantastic.

The Glory of the complete Sega MegaDrive

The best Sega's MegaDrive has to offer has apparently been bundled in this amazing Sega MegaDrive eBay auction, that could even end up being quite the bargain too. Three Infocom boxes, filled with lovely Infocom interactive fiction goodies, in one big Infocom box is what the highest bidder on the Enchanter Trilogy eBay auction will be getting. The trilogy features complete copies of Enchanter, Sorcerer and Spellbreaker for MS-DOS and is rather rare(-ish) and a beautiful thing to play through if you ever loved Zork.

StarCraft Collector's Special Edition Box (PC)

I still refuse to believe Blizzard's StarCraft could ever be considered a retro game, though I will gladly admit it's still one of my favourite RTS offerings ever. And I definitely prefer it over its sequel. 

Also, this StarCraft Collector's Special Edition Box on eBay looks rather amazing. It's the Terran version of the box and it comes with the game disk in its jewel case and the manual. Everything seems to be in excellent condition.

The Commodore 128 Personal Computer

The Commodore 128, the last 8-bit micro by Commodore, was an impressive machine that combined a C64, a CP/M computer and the new C128 with its powerful version of BASIC, 128kb of RAM and high-res graphics under one hood. Genesis CDX & Games

The Genesis CDX is small, handy and collectible, I'll give you that, but it never really was a brilliant idea; not when on launch it was more expensive than a Genesis with a CD add-on, but we can all assume than miniaturization did have to come at a cost. Anyway, the CDX didn't do particularly well and is nowadays quite the Genesis cartridge and Sega CD playing rarity. Just don't try hook it up to a 32X for it probably explode.

Essentially the US version of The Assembly Line's Pipe Mania, Pipe Dream is a lovely action puzzler that has you frantically connecting pipes and testing your mouse-hand dexterity. What's more, you can grab a complete, sealed and boxed copy of it for Mac via this Pipe Dream eBay auction.

Admittedly, this version looks way better than the 8-bit one I was playing and comes with an absolutely stunning cover by Steve Purcell of Sam & Max fame.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES)

Lucasarts' amazing, b-movie inspired, cartoony shooter has appeared on eBay and now you can bid on a truly rare Zombies Ate My Neighbors boxed copy for the SNES. It's one of the most sought after variants of the beautiful game and it's only available to US buyers.

Complete Atari 520 ST

The complete, original Atari 16-bit home computer can (belatedly) be yours by bidding on this lovely Atari 520 ST auction over at eBay. Fresh Homebrew: Uridium (MSX)

Having appeared on the CPC, Spectrum and C64 since 1986, it was about time classic shmup Uridium made it to the MSX courtesy of dev team Trilobyte. Acorn BBC Micro Model B

The BBC Micro, a huge hit in schools throughout Britain and a modestly popular computer throughout Europe, was one of the most powerful and versatile 8-bit micros of the '80s. Appropriately it was rather expensive too, though the winner of this BBC Micro eBay auction will most probably have to spend but a fraction of the original asking price.

Yes, it's that brilliant, classic adventure again: The Secret of Monkey Island by Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer and Dave Grossman. This particular copy currently up for auction on eBay is the complete, unused, boxed version of Lucasfilm's defining point-and-clicker and the seller is shipping worldwide.
