ZX Spectrum +2 James Bond Action Pack

Amstrad's ZX Spectrum +2 is -the way I see it- the best Speccy to buy if you're interested in actually gaming on the thing. It's got a built-in tape recorder, 128K of RAM, a proper keyboard and, more importantly, an RGB port, allowing you to connect a proper monitor. And the James Bond pack even comes with a lightgun... Anyway, try grabbing a boxed James Bond ZX Spectrum +2 @ eBay. UK only. Paying less than 30£ would mean it's quite a bargain too.

Sega Mega Jet MegaDrive

Originally designed as a way to entertain airplane passengers, then slightly modified for Japanese consumers only to evolve into the infamous Sega Nomad and rumored to have been the subject of some good old-fashioned piracy, the Sega Mega Jet MD variant of the MegaDrive/Genesis console is a collector's item. Boxed mint Amstrad GX4000

I've seen Amstard GX4000 consoles go for 15£, I know that they usually sell for 40-45£, but a boxed one with a BuyNow price of 25£ (31 euros) is a rare bargain indeed. More so when both the console and box are practically unused, boxed, in mint condition and in their complete glory. So, uhm, here's the link to a boxed Amstrad GX4000 console. Sam & Max: Hit the Road - Complete

Look at all those disks! Ahh, yes, those were definitely the days of the reign of the classic Lucasarts adventure, and Steve Purcell's Sam & Max: Hit the Road is as classic as they get. Grab it in its original (apparently mint) box, complete with surreal manuals, hint book, reference cards, ads and a glorious copy (vol. 7) of The Adventurer via this Sam & Max (DOS) eBay auction. A nice way to start a NES retro gaming career

Everything you need is included, really, as a Nintendo NES, two controllers and 40 games are more than enough for any historically inclined gamer. Grab them via this NES & games eBay auction. Sellers ships only within the US. Mind you, NES consoles usually sell for 25-30$, whereas the games tend to go for a few dollars each.

Atari XE GS Console

Released in 1987 the Atari XE GS (Game System) was the console version of the Atari 65XE micro and the company's final 8-bit offering. The Atari XE GS -as was the trend with anything released during the NES era- failed to make an impression, even though it did try to bridge the console home-computer gap by offering a keyboard and a BASIC compiler. For an almost complete (lacking a few cables and controllers, mind) XE GS with 4 games, manuals and keyboard, do try this Atari XE GS eBay auction. eBay Rampage: The Commodore Amiga Family

The Amiga 1000 was an impressive power-house, the Amiga 500 the finest and probably most successful 16-bit home computer ever, the 2000 was a professional's dream and the Amiga 1200 the last home computer to stand against the onslaught of PCs and consoles. Oh, yes, and the Amiga was the European games machine of choice too. Prices for the average Amiga 500 start at 20£, 38$ or 25 euros. The 1200 goes for a bit more and so do the Commodore consoles.

Magnetic Scrolls: The Pawn

An excellent text-adventure / interactive-fiction offering for the Atari ST, complete with beautiful graphics (!), printed short story booklet, smart interface, weird plot and an assortment of cunning puzzles, all in its original box. Hooray! Only (well, possibly) via this eBay auction for The Pawn by Magnetic Scrolls. UK only I'm afraid.

The Atari 7800 'Signature Edition' Prototype

Rumor has it less than 20 of these were ever made, eBay history shows they go for ridiculous amounts of money and I'm sure I've seen a white one. Anyway. If you are interested in one of the extremely rare prototype Atari 7800 consoles sporting the Nolan Bushnell signature and the PRO system logo that were never mass produced, do try this Atari 7800 Signature Edition eBay auction. Philips Videopac G7000

The Videopac G7000 by Philips (a.k.a. Magnavox Odyssey 2) was released back in 1978 and was rather successful in Europe -especially in Holland- and Brazil. Sir Clive's Z88 Computer

Having sold the ZX Spectrum line and the Sinclair brand to Amstrad but having wisely kept Sinclair Research to himself, everyone's favourite genius, Sir Clive Sinclair, went on and produced a truly innovative portable computer: the Cambridge Research Z88. It was the first truly affordable laptop that was actually small enough to carry around, featured a smart built-in screen and a ton of PDA-like & business software. The rather powerful machine happily sold pretty well too and you can find out more about it over at Planet Sinclair, Old-Computers.com and Vintage Computing & Gaming.

To grab a decently preserved computer, complete with manual, 128kb RAM, 15 issues of Z88 EPROM and an assortment of goodies, you could try this lovely Cambridge Z88 Computer eBay auction. Seller ships within the UK only. The average Z88 sells for something around 30£.

A very impressive Sinclair QL

The Sinclair QL, Sir Clive's Quantum Leap of sorts, was supposed to be the powerful yet affordable professional PC that would replicate the ZX Spectrum's success and cement Sinclair's dominance in the UK. Unfortunately this rather magnificent machine failed and probably signaled the beginning of Sinclair's end. Now, even though the average Sinclair QL isn't too rare to find, this immensely expanded (boxed) Sinclair QL that just hit eBay is a truly rare gem. Seller ships worldwide and I would expect prices to rise.
