Full Throttle (MS-DOS)

Audio-visually impressive and innovative as it may have been, Lucasarts' biker-themed adventure game Full Throttle relied a bit too heavily on mini games, and was definitely on the shorter side. Still, it's a classic and highly collectible game, and genre lovers should have a look at this Full Throttle (MS-DOS) eBay auction. It's the big box version, and it seems to be in great condition.

Atari Lynx mk.I & Games

The original version of the Atari Lynx --the colour machine that will always be my favourite vintage handheld console-- along with six games has been put up for auction on eBay. The console on offer is apparently fully working, in good cosmetic condition, comes with a power supply unit, and is accompanied by six cartridges including the excellent Xenophobe, California Games, and Hard Drivin'.

Elegant, finely preserved, and complete with a 40MB disk drive and 2MB of RAM this lovely Apple Macintosh Classic computer has been put up for auction on eBay. It is in perfect working condition, has been --apparently-- excellently preserved, and comes complete with manuals, software, leads, and accessories in its equally well preserved original box.

Sega Genesis & Sega CD

You'll be needing two power sockets for a couple of bulky PSUs, but with a Sega Genesis combined with its CD add-on you'll be experiencing a truly cutting edge 16-bit era gaming setup. Also, some pretty excellent and some properly weird games too, and that's why you should consider taking a look at this Sega Genesis & Sega CD bundle eBay auction.

Both the Genesis and Sega CD on offer are the more compact mark 2 variants, are fully working, and come with a joypad, the necessary TV leads, and the two PSUs. The machines are also accompanied by Sonic CD, Loadstar, National Hockey Night, and Dracula on CDs, and by Battletoads, Sonic 3D Blast, and Sonic 3 on cartridges.

Fantastic Commodore 64 Bundle

Commodore's record selling 8-bit computer has aged gracefully, and remains an utterly wonderful platform to play, reminiscent, and create on. Also, this amazing Commodore 64 Bundle currently being auctioned on eBay is a great, and most probably cost effective way of revisiting this definitive '80s micro and its software.

The Commodore 64 and monitor on offer work fine, and are accompanied by a printer and an apparently problematic disk drive. Add to those three complete copies of War In Middle Earth, The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, tons of magazines, books, and 50 or so loose disks, and you have the beginnings of a great collection.

Super Mario Land (Game Boy)

The first Mario game I ever played, Super Mario Land on the Nintendo GameBoy was released in 1989, and developed under the supervision of the legendary Gunpei Yokoi. It is an excellent, varied platformer with short shmup bits, that's been tailored both to the needs of gaming on the go, and to the GameBoy's humble hardware.

Happily, and before prices rise to ludicrous levels, you can buy a fully boxed, sealed copy of the game via this Super Mario Land (Game Boy) eBay auction. As is the case with all GameBoy cartridges this will happily run on any version of the handheld.

Sega Genesis & 16 Games

Though not coming with any cables, this Sega Genesis eBay auction does look like quite the bargain. It is after all a lovely mark I console, and it does come with 4 controllers, and 16 games (most of which are boxed with their manuals), including the excellent Zombies Ate My Neighbors, NBA Live 95, Sonic 1, Mortal Kombat II, and Ecco: The Tides of Time.

ColecoVision & Games

The 1982 ColecoVision sold over four million units, supported 32 (!) hardware sprites, and had over 100 games published for it, yet never survived the US video games crash. Still, Coleco's machine is a wonderful and technically impressive console to collect for, and there are few better places to start from than this ColecoVision eBay auction.

The console on offer has been tested, and is working. It is also bundled with the bits you need to get it running, and 27 games (some of which are boxed). The games include Gorf, Atlantis, Pitfall!, Star Strike, and Q*Bert.

Eric the Unready (MS-DOS)

A lavishly illustrated text adventure with a clever interface and an absolutely bonkers plot, Eric the Unready by Legend Entertainment was sadly one of the last major commercial interactive fiction releases. The 1993 game has aged very well indeed though, and remains funny, lovely to look at, and refreshingly challenging. It also comes in a lavish box you can grab a factory sealed copy of via this Eric the Unready (PC) eBay auction. Oh, and it's the fancy CD-ROM version you'll be bidding on.

Atari Jaguar Launch Edition

A finely preserved 64-bit (do the math!), launch edition Atari Jaguar, along with an Atari branded composite cable, two controllers, and three games has gone up for auction on eBay. The machine has been tested, is working, and seems to be in great condition. Oh, and Jeff Minter's amazing Tempest 2000 is one of the games you'll be bidding on too...

Super Mario Bros. 2: Mario Madness (NES)

With the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 being deemed too hardcore for Western players, Nintendo famously reskinned (and slightly retouched) Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic into the lovely, successful, and formula-breaking Super Mario Bros. 2 for the NES we all know. And if you missed the original release, well, you can still grab the game via this Super Mario Bros 2 (NES) eBay auction.

It's the complete, boxed version you'll be bidding on, meaning you'll also be getting the slip case, box, manual, promotional insert, Nintendo Power poster, and plastic packaging. The game cartridge too, obviously.

Sega Saturn Boxed Bundle

Sega's Saturn complex architecture did allow for some absolutely stunning 2D games, while also making a few impressive early textured-mapped 3D tricks possible, but it sadly also made the console both expensive and difficult to code for. Still, the machine has aged very gracefully, and you can grab a working, boxed one via this Sega Saturn eBay auction.

The console on offer is in apparently very good condition, comes with its cables and things, and also two controllers. As for the (boxed) games included, they are a mighty fine selection including Nights Into Dreams, Tomb Raider, D, Command & Conquer, and  Virtua Fighter 2. Oh, and there's a Game Shark cart thrown in too.

The Complete Apple IIe

The Apple II / Apple ][ (if you are into spelling things the weird-yet-popular way) got its second enhanced version in the form of the improved Apple IIe (find out more about it on Wikipedia). It's the exact same computer you could own by bidding on this Apple IIe eBay auction. The fully working 8-bit micro on offer comes with two disk drives, many disks with games, utilities, and promo software, an Apple III monitor, keyboard, Epson printer card, and 128k of RAM.

Apple HyperCard (Macintosh)

From impressive additions to the Mac demoscene, and classic games, to personal applications, public presentations, and simple databases for small businesses -- all in glorious and crisp black & white -- Apple's HyperCard for the Macintosh was a legendary piece of software. A "Personal Toolkit for Information" that defined the platform, and truly opened up software creation to the non-specialist. And here's an Ars Technica article all about it.

Here, on the other hand, is an Apple Hypercard (Mac) eBay auction for a boxed copy of the application. Inside the elegant and finely preserved box you will find the four 3.5" disks, the user's guide, a license agreement (apparently Apple always loved those), and the Packing List leaflet just to make sure you know what you've got.

Boxed Sega Nomad

Coming straight from Sega's weird (and not particularly successful) era, the Sega Nomad or Sega Genesis Nomad is a handheld version of the classic 16-bit Genesis console with a lovely little colour LCD screen and not as lovely battery life. Handily, it plays the exact same cartridges the home console uses, and is thus rather bulky. Oh, and it's quite rare too, especially when coming in its original box as is the case with this Sega Nomad eBay auction.

The console on offer comes in its box with manual, PSU, and everything pictures above, has been tested, and is in apparently fine condition.

NIB Sega Game Gear & Accessories

Essentially a handheld version of the Master System, Sega's Game Gear was a powerful handheld with a colour screen that never really came close to competing with the Game Boy, wasn't as innovative as the Lynx, but still managed to get itself some fantastic games and has gracefully aged. Happily, you can grab one along with some extremely handy accessories via this Sega Game Gear eBay auction.

The console on offer is new in its box, as are the battery pack, the Game Genie, and the Gear-to-Gear cable. The Master Gear Converter that's part of the bundle is unboxed, but I suppose that's okay, as playing Master System cartridges on the go is still highly enjoyable.

Darth Vader Atari 2600

The sleek, black Atari 2600 -- the lovingly code-named Darth Vader version of the console -- hasn't been featured on this blog for quite some time, and that's definitely a shame. So, here's a nice Atari 2600 eBay auction for this exact version of the classic games-machine that comes complete with two joysticks, the paddles set, seven games, a new power supply, on/off led mods, and coaxial output (!).

Among the included game cartridges you'll find Asteroids, Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Cosmic Ark, and Warlords

One complete IBM PC Jr.

The IBM PC Jr, IBM's failed attempt at an affordable home computer with decent gaming capabilities, and a machine that essentially gave us King's Quest, also happens to be a rare and highly collectible micro. Even more so when coming complete, as is the case with this IBM PC Jr. eBay auction. The computer comes complete with its monitor, cables, cordless keyboard, manuals and guides, software, and even some of the original boxes.
