Neuromancer (Amiga)

Ultima I (MS-DOS)

Ultima 1, the Origin version, is both a historically important game, and a genre-defining RPG. I have never played any western RPG on Nintendo's venerable 8-bit console, but I can't help but be intrigued by this Ultima: Quest for the Avatar (NES) eBay auction. The Wrath of Denethenor (Commodore 64/128)

Sierra's ambitious 8-bit CRPG The Wrath of Denethenor, an interesting, quite rare, and relatively obscure top-down, hack-and-slash fantasy game, has made another rather unexpected appearance on eBay! Ishar, the wonderfully imaginative fantasy RPG by French studio Silmarils, is a game I fondly remember, and actually one I do consider to have aged superbly. Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday (C64)

One of the very few science fiction RPGs by SSI, Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday for the C64 has gone up for auction on eBay, and it's a lovely thing. Coming in a beautifully illustrated box filled with disks, a book, manuals, and leaflets, it is a finely preserved European version of the game. And I remember loving said game.

Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny (Apple II)

Ultima V was the first Ultima RPG I ever played and, to this day, remains one of my all time favourite games regardless of genre and/or platform. It also featured some absolutely stunning box art, came packaged with an amazing assortment of goodies, and was an absolutely engrossing RPG.

Shadowrun (Genesis)

Shadowrun for the Sega Genesis, one of my all time favourite 16-bit RPGs and an excellently crafted cyberpunk/fantasy offering based on the titular pen and paper RPG, has just made an appearance over at this Shadowrun (Genesis) eBay auction. Dungeon Campaign (Apple II)

Released back in 1978 by Synergistic Software for the Apple II Dungeon Campaign is an extremely early CRPG and a rogue-like that appeared before Rogue. Actually, it most probably is the very first procedural dungeon crawler ever created, and the copy you'll find on this Dungeon Campaign (Apple II) eBay auction is the rarer one. The one before the better known Wilderness Campaign was created and it comes in its original ziplog bag.

Planescape: Torment (PC)

Quite possibly the best fantasy RPG ever made and, definitely, the only Dungeons & Dragons game to ever feature both a Brothel of Slaking Intellectual Lusts and hundreds of thousands of excellent words, Planescape: Torment is an absolutely amazing offering. A classic. Black Isle's magnum opus and something you cannot afford to miss.

1981's Ultima I for the Apple II

The incredibly rare, groundbreaking and so nostalgically beautiful RPG, the original 1981 version of Ultima by Lord British (Richard Garriott), has gone up for auction on eBay and you can bid on it via this Ultima I link. It's the original version of the game for the Apple II and it comes complete with zip bag (!), original colour front print, disk, manual, reference card and an extra disk. Everything seems to be in excellent condition.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn & Throne of Baal (PC)
