The definitive Amiga CD32

Commodore almost got it right with the Amiga CD32 console, but its neat, slightly upgraded console version of the A1200 was too little too late. Being the first 32-bit CD-based console on the market just wasn't enough to turn the tide. Panasonic 3DO FZ-1 & Games

The 3DO console was a bold experiment indeed. It never really caught on, but it did usher in a new era, and was the home of some excellent games. Sid Meier's Civilization II (PC)

Discworld Noir (PC CD)

I do adore Terry Pratchett's Discworld, and even though it did not always translate to top quality games, this wondrous setting did help spawn one of my favourite adventure games of all time: Discworld Noir. Sega Saturn and 28 Games

PC Engine CD-ROM

The PC Engine CD-ROM, that is the CD-ROM^2 which could only mean the CD-ROM-ROM, sounded magical back in 1988. It would allow an already powerful but consumer-grade console to play games off CDs! I still consider the Sega CD (and Mega CD) an extremely and inexplicably charming machine, that somehow and despite the broken promises managed to almost live up to the promise of an emphatically different next generation of gaming. The Classic Lotus Trilogy (Amiga CD32)

Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, Lotus Turbo Challenge 2, and Lotus III: The Ultimate Challenge are three of the very best 16-bit racing games ever developed and released, and some of the finest arcade racers ever. The REAL 3DO was a groundbreaking idea, an impressive console, and an important milestone in the history of gaming, and -- even though it commercially flopped -- it remains a lovely machine to collect for and play on.
