Final Fantasy Tactics (PlayStation)

Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the few truly great strategic offerings that didn't originate on computers, and for this reason alone it will always have my respect. Besides, it's a beautiful, deep, addictive and excellently balanced game that has aged gracefully, and one of the most important PlayStation releases I can think of. Then again, why should care about such thoughts? You most probably already know whether you care about it and should be happy to find out that Play Asia is offering an impressive discount to anyone looking for a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics for the Japanese PSOne.

Robotron for the Atari 8-bit

There is one version of Robotron: 2084 for the Atari 8-bit micros that impressively comes with a dual joystick holder and apparently eBay seller myatari has three of them waiting to be purchased at what can only be described as a decent price. You can grab them right here and play this historic arena shooter the way it was meant to. Seller ships worldwide and you'll be getting a complete, unopened box of the game.

Hagane (Super Famicom)

Boxed copies of the SNES version of Hagane can easily sell for more than $2000, but -as reader Gary recently discovered- there are cheaper ways to enjoy this rather obscure game on your 16-bit Nintendo console. You could for example grab this unboxed Hagane cartridge for the Super Famicom for a much more reasonable $35. Seller ships only within the US.

Sega Dreamcast RX-78

Retro Treasures reader Steve has discovered something truly amazing: one of the seventy-eight and thus extremely rare RX-78 Sega Dreamcast consoles. Oh, yes, all you have to do is be relatively rich and/or a Sega maniac and follow a certain link to said Dreamcast RX-78. This is console number 71 and it comes brand new in its complete box. Yes, it's that collectible. Seller ships to N. and S. America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Head Over Heels (CPC 6128)

There are maddeningly expensive rarities that no one bought in the first place, and there are are rare games that are hard to find only because nobody is willing to part with them. Such games are usually -and rather obviously- much better than them collectible holy grails and Head Over Heels for the Amstrad CPC 6128 is such a case. It's a fantastic isometric arcade-adventure classic with excellent graphics and innovative mechanics you can grab via this Head Over Heels auction. You'll be bidding on a complete boxed copy. Air Raid (Atari 2600)

The last time I mentioned an auction for Air Raid for the Atari 2600, it was for a boxed game and it reached stratospheric levels. Hopefully this copy of Air Raid that just appeared on eBay will sell for slightly less. It is after all lacking its box and you'll only be bidding on the cartridge. Then again it has already reach $1000 and that boxed copy I mentioned did sell for a bit over $30000. Shocking eh? Seller ships worldwide, though you're probably better off grabbing a ROM and enjoying it via emulation. 

Manhunter 2: San Francisco (Atari ST)

With only a few hours left till the auction is over and the current bid being under $5.00 it does seem that this copy of Manhunter 2: San Francisco will end up being quite the bargain. Impressively it's an auction on a sealed (!) copy of one of Sierra's most unique offerings for the Atari ST and the seller is willing to ship worldwide. Boxed Vectrex and Games

Still haven't grabbed my very own Vectrex, but if this Vectrex w/ games auctions wasn't an US only thing, I'd probably be all over it. The seller, you see, is offering a boxed Vectrex, eight games complete with their box, manual and overlays, and two boxed games without manuals. Said games are: Webwars, Spike, Bedlam, Ripoff, Berzerk, Star Castle, Cosmic Chasm, Starhawk, Scramble and Hyperchase. 

Pikachu Nintendo 64 Set

I always felt there was something deeply disturbing about Pikachu, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't really care. Still, collectible as it might be, I would never really bid on this otherwise lovely, boxed, apparently complete and new Pikachu N64 Set; it is after all a US only auction and I've just discovered that I have always been far too old to care for Pokemon...

Boxed Sinclair ZX Interface 2

I do believe we are all comfortable in the presence of Interface 2, aren't we? Oh, I see. Well, it was a smart add-on Sinclair released for the ZX Spectrum in 1983 and offered two joystick ports and a cartridge slot, effectively turning the Speccy into a proper console. Or, at least, that was the plan, but the joystick ports weren't Kempston compatible and the cartridges were both very expensive and able to only hold up to 16k worth of ROM, meaning that this upgrade didn't really make a lot of sense. Still, the Interface 2 remains a lovely and absolutely beautiful collectible that did have a few excellent games released for it.

Forgotten Realms Limited Collector's Edition

It seems that there is one Gold Box SSI release I had never heard of: the Advanced Dungeon's and Dragons: Forgotten Realms Limited Collector's Edition. It's a lovely, hefty box containing Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds and Secret of the Silver Blades, complete with their proper manuals, disks and extras. The compilation was released in 1990 and as far as I know must be pretty rare, though very cheap. You can own it via this Forgotten Realms Limited Collector's Edition eBay auction. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES)

It might not be the rarest Nintendo SNES game ever, but Super Ghouls n' Ghosts is both very collectible and an excellent game on its own right. Besides, owning a complete boxed copy in mint condition, just like this Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) being currently auctioned off, should feel pretty nice. Oh, and the seller does ship worldwide.
