One Oric-1 Micro Computer

Released in 1983 by Tangerine Computer Systems, the Oric-1 was supposed to take on the mighty ZX Spectrum. The micro came in 16- and 48-k versions, sported proper 3-channel sound, featured an uncomfortable keyboard and a 6502A CPU. It was cheap, suffered from coour-clash and, as you may have noticed, failed to sell too well, despite being rather popular in France. Find out more about the rather obscure Oric-1 here, here and here.

To own a system you can do much worse than biding on this Oric-1 eBay auction. The computer comes complete in its original box, seems to be in excellent cosmetic condition and is fully functional. It is obviously accompanied by leads, demo tape, manual, PSU etc.

Working, boxed Oric Atmos

The brilliantly named Tangerine Computer Systems released the Oric Atmos, the successor to the modestly successful Oric-1, back in 1984. The micro sported the same 6502A CPU the Oric-1 had and was actually more or less the same machine, albeit with a vastly improved keyboard, more available accessories and a debugged ROM. Also, the Atmos was the more beautiful of the two.

As the Atmos is nowadays quite the rarity, you'll be happy to know that this particular Oric Atmos has recently appeared on eBay. The auction is for a working, boxed computer, a mostly working disk drive, the manual, two books, a selection of disks and a few more bits and pieces. Boxed 48k Oric-1 micro

The Oric-1 was a British 8-bit micro that was designed to take on the ZX Spectrum. Though the computer did manage to carve its very own niche in the UK and get its selection of quality software, it really managed to reach proper popularity in France, where a ton of excellent games were released for it. The computer featured a 6502A processor, a decent sound-chip, RGB output, excellent design and a gloriously horrible keyboard.

To grab a well preserved, boxed and fully working Oric-1, you could do much worse than bid on this pretty excellent boxed Oric-1 on eBay. This machine still looks lovely, despite its horrible keyboard and the fact that getting games to load on it can apparently be quite troublesome. Anyway. Good news is you can find an almost unused (allegedly) specimen via eBay. Said Oric-1 comes in its original box, with its original accessories and its shockingly original manual. Never knew that Gilsoft's classic adventure creating program The Quill had been released for the Oric-1 and Atmos.
