CD-i with Hotel Mario & Link: The Faces Of Evil

Infamous as they might be, both Hotel Mario and Link: The Faces of Evil are highly coveted (and collectible) offerings. They are, after all, of the rare breed of games starring Nintendo characters that were not developed by Nintendo. Also, they are only available for the CD-i.

Zelda's Adventure (CD-i)

Having never played a CD-i Zelda  game I simply cannot say whether they are all as bad as common wisdom would have us believe, though, admittedly, common wisdom does seem to agree that Zelda's Adventure is indeed the worst of the lot. It's a digitized affair staring Zelda herself and one that is played from an overhead perspective where apparently everything went wrong. From the blurry digitized graphics and the horrid acting to the virtually non-existent music and the ludicrous difficulty, nothing really worked.

Still, the game is quite rare today and considered by many an important collectible for the CD-i, meaning that more than a few people should be interested in this Zelda's Adventure (CD-i) eBay auction. The game comes in its jewel case and the seller ships worldwide.

Philips CDi 450 Console

The last serious attempt by Philips to enter the console market, the incredibly intriguing CD-i, never really took off, but it did provide us with a unique console, an odd controller/remote and some of the strangest (though not best) Zelda and Mario games ever. The portable CD-I 370

The Phillips CD-i 370 is a rather rare, portable and powerful version of the CD-i console. It is fully compatible with all CD-i games, comes complete with a digital video decoder to play VCDs, offers TV-out options, sports a rechargeable battery, can do both PAL and NTSC stuff, and is beautiful and compact enough to actually be ported around.
