The beautiful vector-based Vectrex is a truly unique retro console, that comes complete with it's built-in, ultra-crisp vector monitor and a proper analog controller, and even sports more than a few excellent games. It may have been a failure due to mankind's devastating lack of taste, but you can happily still grab a boxed Vectrex via eBay. It comes complete with its manual, controller, built-in game with instructions & overlay, an insert and an accessories booklet. Seller ships worldwide.

I'm always moved when I see a Vectrex, mainly because it's one of the few things you just have to see to understand how it works and, most important, how it feels.

ReplyDeleteI only had 2 games on with mine, asteroids and defender. Me and my aunt would take turns seeing how far we could get in asteroids. I miss that machine, I don't even know where mine is.

ReplyDeleteI picked mine up at one of the very first PhillyClassic shows back in 2001 - a classic gaming event in Philadelphia, PA (USA). I was lucky enough to find an example with a box, and the fabled multi-cart and made the good decision to add it to the collection. The Vectrex is a magical and beautiful machine, and really one of my fondest things.

I picked up a Vectrex from a friend for £50 last week, with overlays, manual, two original-release games (Bezerk and Scramble) and a recent homebrew cart with amazing versions of Defender and Space Invaders. Bargain.

Wow - so many people on here that have one of these beauties. I don't but have wanted one for quite some time. Still holding out hopes to accidentally stumble onto one for a little cheaper someday. Probably not though. Sigh...
