Sega Dreamcast RX-78

Retro Treasures reader Steve has discovered something truly amazing: one of the seventy-eight and thus extremely rare RX-78 Sega Dreamcast consoles. Oh, yes, all you have to do is be relatively rich and/or a Sega maniac and follow a certain link to said Dreamcast RX-78. This is console number 71 and it comes brand new in its complete box. Yes, it's that collectible. Seller ships to N. and S. America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Head Over Heels (CPC 6128)

There are maddeningly expensive rarities that no one bought in the first place, and there are are rare games that are hard to find only because nobody is willing to part with them. Such games are usually -and rather obviously- much better than them collectible holy grails and Head Over Heels for the Amstrad CPC 6128 is such a case. It's a fantastic isometric arcade-adventure classic with excellent graphics and innovative mechanics you can grab via this Head Over Heels auction. You'll be bidding on a complete boxed copy. Seller ships worldwide.

Air Raid (Atari 2600)

The last time I mentioned an auction for Air Raid for the Atari 2600, it was for a boxed game and it reached stratospheric levels. Hopefully this copy of Air Raid that just appeared on eBay will sell for slightly less. It is after all lacking its box and you'll only be bidding on the cartridge. Then again it has already reach $1000 and that boxed copy I mentioned did sell for a bit over $30000. Shocking eh? Seller ships worldwide, though you're probably better off grabbing a ROM and enjoying it via emulation.

Manhunter 2: San Francisco (Atari ST)

With only a few hours left till the auction is over and the current bid being under $5.00 it does seem that this copy of Manhunter 2: San Francisco will end up being quite the bargain. Impressively it's an auction on a sealed (!) copy of one of Sierra's most unique offerings for the Atari ST and the seller is willing to ship worldwide. You can find out more about Manhunter 2 over at Adventure Classic Gaming.

Boxed Vectrex and Games

Still haven't grabbed my very own Vectrex, but if this Vectrex w/ games auctions wasn't an US only thing, I'd probably be all over it. The seller, you see, is offering a boxed Vectrex, eight games complete with their box, manual and overlays, and two boxed games without manuals. Said games are: Webwars, Spike, Bedlam, Ripoff, Berzerk, Star Castle, Cosmic Chasm, Starhawk, Scramble and Hyperchase.

Pikachu Nintendo 64 Set

I always felt there was something deeply disturbing about Pikachu, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't really care. Still, collectible as it might be, I would never really bid on this otherwise lovely, boxed, apparently complete and new Pikachu N64 Set; it is after all a US only auction and I've just discovered that I have always been far too old to care for Pokemon...

Boxed Sinclair ZX Interface 2

I do believe we are all comfortable in the presence of Interface 2, aren't we? Oh, I see. Well, it was a smart add-on Sinclair released for the ZX Spectrum in 1983 and offered two joystick ports and a cartridge slot, effectively turning the Speccy into a proper console. Or, at least, that was the plan, but the joystick ports weren't Kempston compatible and the cartridges were both very expensive and able to only hold up to 16k worth of ROM, meaning that this upgrade didn't really make a lot of sense. Still, the Interface 2 remains a lovely and absolutely beautiful collectible that did have a few excellent games released for it.

You can grab a complete, boxed one with manual via this Sinclair ZX Interface 2 eBay auction. The thing seems to be in great condition and the seller ships to the United States, the European Union, Australia and Canada.

Forgotten Realms Limited Collector's Edition

It seems that there is one Gold Box SSI release I had never heard of: the Advanced Dungeon's and Dragons: Forgotten Realms Limited Collector's Edition. It's a lovely, hefty box containing Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds and Secret of the Silver Blades, complete with their proper manuals, disks and extras. The compilation was released in 1990 and as far as I know must be pretty rare, though very cheap. You can own it via this Forgotten Realms Limited Collector's Edition eBay auction. Seller ships worldwide.

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES)

It might not be the rarest Nintendo SNES game ever, but Super Ghouls n' Ghosts is both very collectible and an excellent game on its own right. Besides, owning a complete boxed copy in mint condition, just like this Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) being currently auctioned off, should feel pretty nice. Oh, and the seller does ship worldwide.

Boxed 48k Oric-1 micro

The Oric-1 was a British 8-bit micro that was designed to take on the ZX Spectrum. Though the computer did manage to carve its very own niche in the UK and get its selection of quality software, it really managed to reach proper popularity in France, where a ton of excellent games were released for it. The computer featured a 6502A processor, a decent sound-chip, RGB output, excellent design and a gloriously horrible keyboard.

To grab a well preserved, boxed and fully working Oric-1, you could do much worse than bid on this pretty excellent boxed Oric-1 on eBay. The micro comes complete in its original packaging, meaning that you'll also be getting the RF cable, the manual and obviously the power supply. Seller ships worldwide.

7 Atari Lynx Games

How would you like owning Warbirds, Xybots, Rampart, Rampage, Awesome Golf, Double Dragon and Joust for the Atari Lynx? Well, provided you've answered yes, this Lynx games auction of some of the console's very best games is definitely for you. Seller ships worldwide.

Brand New Atari Jaguar CD

The Atari Jaguar CD, an aptly named add-on CD for the Jaguar, joined the party too late and never really came close to saving Atari's final -and doomed- console. What's more, the Jag CD is a rare, expensive and very fickle accessory, and one should probably go for new ones. The chances of them working are indeed higher, and that's why I suggest anyone interested should have a look at this Atari Jaguar CD auction. It's a fully boxed, complete, never used specimen and the seller ships only within the US.

Thompson Twins Adventure Game LP

Remember that lovely Thompson Twins Adventure Game I mentioned a couple of years ago? Right. I see. That's okay. No, really. What actually matters is that you now have another chance to grab that not-so-brilliant adventure on a vinyl LP via this Thompson Twins Adventure Game auction. The game was released in 1984 by Quicksilva for the ZX Spectrum and you can play it online here. Seller ships to Europe, United States, Australia, Canada and Japan.

Deus Ex Machina (ZX Spectrum)

Mel Croucher's 1984 magnum opus, Deus Ex Machina, was one of the most ambitious (both artistically and technically) games to ever appear on the ZX Spectrum and the only game that came complete with synchronized audio on a separate tape. Now, to experience its odd minigames and excellent, dystopian plot the way you were always meant to, do grab this boxed Deus Ex Machina that appeared on eBay. Seller ships worldwide. Oh, and it's quite rare too!

The Tandy Memorex VIS

The Tandy Memorex Visual Information System, the VIS, was one of the many failed CD-based multimedia platforms of the early 90s. It was released in 1992 and was essentially a consolised PC sporting an Intel 286 processor, a single speed CD-ROM drive, 1MB of RAM, a decent sound-card, an equally decent VGA graphics adapter and a special version of Windows 3.1. Not surprisingly, it wasn't the greatest gaming machine possible -I do believe the CDTV was actually better- and was a huge flop. Huge enough to remain incredibly obscure -and I suppose rare- to this very day.

Having never seen one on eBay before, I can't really tell how expensive it's going to end up being, but I'm pretty sure taking a look at this Tandy Memorex VIS auction will definitely be worth your time. It sports a fully functional VIS console, the obligatory wireless controller and 28 games/multimedia titles. Among them you'll find only a handful of well know games such as Links and The Manhole, and a ton of titles like Great Lives, Wild Animals and Kid Fun. Seller ships only within the United States.

Working Sega Saturn & Games

The Sega Saturn, Sega's competitor to the PSOne throne, is a lovely console sporting some fantastic shmups and arcade conversions, as well as some interesting Sega offerings. Happily, you can easily and relatively cheaply own one. This Sega Saturn auction might actually help you there. The console comes with a controller, Daytona USA and Virtua Fighter 2. Seller ships worldwide.

Wizard and the Princess (Apple II)

Following that impressive Softporn Adventure auction, eBay seller JeffCowe is now giving everyone a chance to grab a lovely copy of the Wizard and the Princess for the Apple II. So, Hi-res Adventure #2 by On-Line Systems is up for grabs indeed and Sierra fans should be readying their weapons and revising their bank robbery plans... Seller ships worldwide.

Nintendo Famicom Power Glove

Ah, yes, the infamous Power Glove. The peripheral that promised Wii-like controls for the NES/Famicom and delivered, well, something else entirely; something that turned the best game into a frustrating and nigh on unplayable mess. Why would you want one? Because you are a collector I suppose and should thus care for this excellently preserved and fully boxed Famicom Power Glove. Seller ships worldwide. Oh, and it does look so utterly futuristic, doesn't it?

Softporn Adventure (Apple II)

Softporn Adventure, one of the early Sierra text-only games back from the company's On-Line Systems days, was a major success on the Apple II, sported a naked Roberta Williams on its cover and went on and got re-imagined (and vastly improved) as Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. What's more, you can download it for free from Al Lowe's site and even own your very own, very rare copy with the help of this Softporn Adventure eBay auction. It's the very first and rare Apple II version of the text adventure, comes in its original plastic baggie and seems to be in good condition. Seller ships worldwide.

The Definitive Nintendo 64 Collection

Ladies and gentlemen, we might be out of lions, but surely this amazing Nintendo 64 collection that just appeared on eBay should be impressive and entertaining enough. It does after all include everything to make the average retro gamer and collector a happy person and is shockingly available for worldwide shipping. And, no, this bundle of N64 love will definitely not come in cheap. Not with all the boxed accessories and rare games it won't.

So, what is included? For starters we have the boxed console, some boxed controllers, a boxed power pack, the Dex Drive (!), manuals, four rumble packs, strategy guides, a cleaning kit, one Game Boy Transfer Pak, a couple of videos, the required cables and an assortment of interesting extras. Then we have 40 complete in their box games that include rarities like Sin & Punishment, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Paper Mario, as well as classics like Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 64. That should really be enough for everyone.

The Neverhood (PC)

Bravely released in 1996, The Neverhood deserved to become a smash hit. Its claymation graphics by Doug TenNapel looked amazing, its world was innovative and interesting, its soundtrack was amazing and the game actually managed to provide with a simple yet highly enjoyable point-and-click experience. Sadly it flopped; hard enough to be a PC gaming rarity actually. A rarity you can grab over at magisterrex by following this aptly titled The Neverhood (PC) link. Oh, and you will indeed be getting a glorious and even rarer factory sealed copy of the game too.
