Originally designed as a way to entertain airplane passengers, then slightly modified for Japanese consumers only to evolve into the infamous Sega Nomad and rumored to have been the subject of some good old-fashioned piracy, the Sega Mega Jet MD variant of the MegaDrive/Genesis console is a collector's item. It also happens to be a portable version of Sega's classic 16-bit console without a screen. You can find out more about it here and then try grabbing one via this Sega Mega Jet eBay auction. Seller ships worldwide.

Another rarity I never know existed! Who would've thought that they made a portable MD to play on a plane?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Sega would :p
ReplyDeleteWow - didn't even know this site existed! It's awesome! Some of these finds bring back font memories of carboot sales of yore! Also - Racketboy, yes your interview was featured in that Dreamcast edition of Retro Gamer Magazine.
ReplyDeleteTomleece! You're still around mate! Brilliant! Oh, and glad you like the blog... you can obviously write here if you want to... Cheers my friend!
ReplyDeleteIts a very nice unit. Ran into one a few years ago in a gamestore in the UAE, wish I'd have bought it.
