A portable C64? Yes, a Commodore SX-64!

Gotta love ebay. Really. You see, another one of them fabled computer/video-gaming rarities has turned up and it's no other than the utterly amazing Commodore SX-64 (a.k.a. Executive 64), the portable sibling of the famous Commodore 64, complete with 5,25" disk-drive and built-in crisp color monitor.

Oh, and you might be interested in finding out that the SX-64 was the world's first color portable computer and also the only one you could ever use to play with Little Computer People too. Then again, it lacks a cassette port and can only run disk or cartridge games, but, really, who would notice.

To find out more about said 23-pound miniaturization wonder have a look at Wikipedia, OldComputers.net, Vintage Computers and/or of course the aptly named SX64.net.

For a rare chance to actually own a Commodore SX-64 try this Commodore SX-64 ebay auction. Seller ships worldwide.

  1. The SX-64 isn't rare. It isn't as common as a breadbox 64 but calling it rare is a stretch. There are always 5-10 available on eBay.

  2. Quite s-xy. Like the sx-y thing I 'd say dear Elderly.

Oh, and anonymous, I'm afraid you're dead wrong. I've been searching ebay for quite some time and it's the first time in months I found an SX-64 and it was only one.

If you search closed auctions you'll find seven have sold in the last week and dozens in the last 90 days. I guess you need to be more thorough in your searches.
