Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis for the ZX Spectrum, the US GOLD - Lucasarts 1992 boxed version to be exact, is easily one of the rarest and most expensive Speccy games around and one you can grab via this Fate of Atlantis auction. The game remains mediocre, but it comes complete in its very well preserved boxed and is quite the collectible. Seller ships worldwide.

Oh, yeah. It was an isometric action game, as apposed to the point & click adventure game every other platform got. I think they were supposed to release both on the Speccy originally, as I recall. Certainly Your Sinclair's preview went into great detail about how there was going to be two versions of the game. I suppose US Gold felt that the market for Speccy games was on the wane and it might not have been able to handle the full adventure game, technically. Shame really, cos Fate of Atlantis is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteIt really needs a decent re-release like the Monkey Island games got. I know it was hidden away as an extra on a Wii game a few years ago, but it's not the same.
And it sounded very hopeful back then (almost got me buying Lucasarts' Wii offering), but apparently nothing much happened. Who knows though? Maybe the recent adventure revival might do wonders for Fate of Atlantis too.
DeleteMind you, I can't quite see how the FOA point-and-click could have made it to the Speccy. Not unless it was turned into a text adventure...
