Slightly surreal but clever and occasionally impressive Star Wars themed platformer Super Star Wars is rightfully considered one of the best 16-bit games based on the original trilogy. To grab a complete-in-box, sealed, NTSC version of it you could do much worse than bid on this Super Star Wars (SNES) eBay auction.

The Super Star Wars Trilogy is still one of my absolute favourite game series. It's an incredibly fun take on the classic film series (and arguably far more fun than most of the games that were based off the prequels)
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it; we're now had three new Star Wars movies from Disney, and for the first time, there HASN'T been a direct video-game based on any of them. The original trilogy and the prequels all had games based on them, even using the actual title of the film. There was a Phantom Menace game on the PS1, an Attack of the Clones on Game-Boy Color (or possibly Advance), Revenge on the Sith on PS2, Xbox and GC, and multiple games titled Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. But we've not had a proper The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi or Rogue One game. Yes, there's a Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the modern Battlefront has The Force Awakens and (I think) Rogue One and probably The Last Jedi references, but that's not quite the same :(
I haven't played all three games to completion (far from it) but what little I played, I have to admit was impressive.
ReplyDeleteAlso, hey, you are absolutely right! Hadn't noticed that to be honest.
