You might scoff at Rebel Assault and laugh in the face of FMV games, but back in 1993 they were considered cutting edge; the killer apps of the CD-ROM. Besides, Rebel Assault isn't really that bad a game and it does feature a ton of clips from the original trilogy. Actually why not spend a mere dollar on it and find out more about it for yourselves? Grab it over at magisterrex. It's the PC CD version.

I had this game on PC and it was impressive grapgically, but a bit frustrating due to the on-rails nature of the FMV footage, obviously you could only move around the screen with your ship, not actually move the horizon or turn left or right.
ReplyDeleteThat said, it was set in the Star Wars universe, and had a great soundtrack, and I sunk a few hours into his to see all the footage.
Thanks for reminding me I'm not the only one fondly remembering Rebel Assault. Especially if run on a 386DX + it was pretty sweet.
DeleteOh, and that's a pretty impressive site too dear RolyRetro!
I won't scoff! Rebel Assault came bundled with my first PC and it was one hell of a game :) Very hard though I might add.
ReplyDeleteExcellent! Us people that don't scoff Rebel Assault are turning into a glorious worldwide movement! Hooray and hoorah!
DeleteSeriously though, it had more than a few moments.
