Speedball 2 (Amiga CD32)

Truth be said, if you do actually own an Amiga CD32 and are lacking a copy of the Bitmap Brothers' Speedball 2 you are definitely missing out. Not, that the CD32 version of this brutal, futuristic sport is much better than its A1200 counterpart mind, but it definitely remains an excellent port of a fantastic game. One of the CD32's best. And you can grab it via this Speedball 2 auction. Seller ships worldwide.

  1. A truly awesome game, whether it be on the Amiga, the A1200/CD32 AGA version, Mega Drive... it's even available as a PS Mini for PS3, PSP and PS Vita. There was talk of a remake, but the original is a damn fine game, even today.

    1. Will never get over the AGA version myself and thus fully agree. Was also thinking of giving the iOS remake a go, but can't see how it could possibly work without a proper joystick.

  2. Well, touchscreens are all well and good for certain games, but for others, you need a joystick/d-pad on an analogue stick. Speedball 2 is one of those, because it relies on fast action and sharp reflexes. There's no Android port, or you could play it on an Xperia Play or Android gaming tablet, so the only thing I can think of is the iPad and an iArcade adapter, which is a lot of trouble and expense to go to.

    1. Right... A shame really. Oh, well, nothing beats an Amiga. It's just that it really isn't that portable...

  3. The Mega Drive Port was quite good. you could always try one of those portable clones from Blaze. Certain models run ROMS from an SD card. That works for me. Or, PSP or a Vita and the PS Mini version. There was also a Game Boy Advance port too. Lots of options there, Gnome.
