The Epyx Fast Load Cartridge (a.k.a. FastLoad) must have been the most successful Commodore 64 add-on ever. Well, at least in the US where disk drives were pretty common, that is. The Fast Load, you see, was -arguably still is- a cartridge that dramatically sped up drive accessing speeds thus reducing loading times and making playing those impressive big games truly fun. It also came with some pretty handy built-in software too (DOS Wedge, a disk editor and a basic MLM). You can grab one via this C64 Epyx Fast Load Cartridge auction too. Seller ships worldwide.

Nice post. I use an alternative speedup cart from Cinemaware that works great and has a reset button as well with my 64C.
ReplyDeleteThanks blake. Never knew of said Cinemaware cartidge, really, so -uhm- thanks again! :)
ReplyDeleteWould that speed up my 8-track player too...?
ReplyDeleteImmensely, dear.
ReplyDeleteActually Microsoft stole this idea! Vista offers the same kinda deal by using a flash drive!
ReplyDeleteI head this is not the first time they have stole... hhhmmmmm..
Those Redmond based bastards! They'll pay, oh they will... Well, something. I mean... erm... stealing your idea just wasn't right it, was it?
