The
Neo-Geo was an amazing and amazingly expensive machine and so
SNK decided to keep the amazing bit, remove the expensive part and add some pretty annoying loading times by coming up with the
Neo-Geo CD. An impressive 2D CD-based powerhouse with a ton of AES/MVS ports that was actually affordable and didn't need them overpriced cartridges. Apparently, it's even more so now. Try this
Neo Geo CD & 9 games eBay auction and see what I mean. Seller ships worldwide. Grab this for less than 200$, 150 euros or 115 pounds and consider yourself lucky. Grab it for its current price and throw a party.
Oh man. Neo Geos are really sweet.
ReplyDeleteI might have to sell my 3D0 and save up for one.
(Though I would finish Wing Commander 3 before I do that)
I really wouldn't sell the 3DO. Really. Especially if you've got Wing Commander in it. Just be a patient Jedi and rob a bank. Owning both a 3DO and a Neo Geo should be worth the risk...
ReplyDeleteNever got to play either of the two. What do they compare against..? -or about what time frame did they release..?
ReplyDeleteThe Neo Geo was launched back in 1990 and I'm sure you've played it. It was after all all the rage in the arcades sporting such classics as King of Fighters, Samurai Showdown and Metal Slug. Rings any bells my friend?
ReplyDeleteOkay, yeah a couple friends had these. Never had one myself, but I would play my friends quite a bit. My parents were not supporters of any type of gaming in those days... Even in these days..
ReplyDeleteHow shockingly odd! My parents were always interested in video games, you know. Tetris and Civ being firm favourites.
ReplyDeleteRowdy little gnomes anyway..
ReplyDeleteTehehehe
