Acorn Electron & Software

The Acorn Electron, the cheaper yet most competent little brother of the BBC Micro, is a fantastic, compact, good-looking and downright lovely 8-bit micro, that usually comes with an incredibly affordable price-tag too. Take this Acorn Electron for example. It costs less than 25 pounds, is in full working order and comes with a variety of mostly boxed software, among which you'll find such games as Boxer and Arcadians. The only thing it lacks is an aerial cable, but those are very easy and cheap to grab; you probably have one already. Oh, and the seller does sell worldwide.

Magic Carpet Gold Edition (PC)

Magisterrex, that lovely hub of retro goodness, has gone and kindly dropped its incredibly modest prices, meaning that you can now grab such treasures as this boxed Magic Carpet Gold Edition for much less than you'd expect. It is a factory sealed copy of the CD-ROM edition of Bullfrog's whimsical 3D flying carpet sim and, as you'll definitely notice, it hasn't aged a day.

The Flintstones: Surprise at Dino Peak (NES)

As far as officially licensed Nintendo NES games go The Flintstones: Surprise at Dino Peak is one of the rarest. Maybe even the second rarest as it was only available for rent towards the end of the NES life cycle, but you do know how these things change. Now, as is customary, price is directly analogous to rarity and I suppose one could easily pay over $1000 for this complete, boxed copy of The Flintstones: Surprise at Dino Peak (NES). Place your bids and know that the seller only ships to Canada and the US.

Two Spectrum micros by Amstrad

Some auctions are not that clear in their wording, but -from what I understand- this ZX Spectrum +2 & +3 auction will get you an unused ZX Spectrum +3 and an equally unused ZX Spectrum +2. Apparently both machines are boxed (though not necessarily complete) and come with a variety of extras, oddly including an Amiga disk. Seller ships worldwide.

Gamate and Games

The Bit Corp Gamate is one of my dearest retro oddities of the handheld variety. Can't exactly explain why, but it must have something to do with its old-fashioned design, odd games and all around obscurity. Anyway. If you are interested in it, then you should definitely have a look at this excellent Gamate eBay auction. The console is in great condition, comes with 9 games (most of them boxed) and an already attached screen protector. Seller ships only within the US.

Atari Jaguar Felix Development System

ByteCellar's Blake keeps coming up with the most wonderful of retro thingies, and you should frankly follow the man on twitter. His latest discovery is none other than this impressive and very rare Felix Development System. It's an untested dev kit for the Atari Jaguar (one of the earliest for the console) and the seller ships only within the US.

Final Fantasy (Wonderswan Color)

If you do actually own one of those Gunpei Yokoi designed handheld beauties, then you really should think about grabbing Final Fantasy for the Wonderswan Color from Play Asia. It's a pretty faithful remake of the NES original and thus one of the best action-RPGs available for the system.

Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis (PC)

Indiana Jones and the Fate Of Atlantis by Lucasarts is one of the very best point-and-click adventure games ever, the most interesting Indiana Jones story I've experienced and -by far- the most replayable narrative heavy game I've so far encountered. Besides, it still looks beautiful in its pixel-art glory, feels massive and provides with far too many options and well-designed puzzles. Oh, yes, and it simply has to be in every adventurer's collection.

If you have a PC with a 5.25" disk-drive, there can't be a better way to playing it than with the help of this boxed copy of Fate of Atlantis that has been put up for auction. The game comes complete with manual, quick reference card, the third issue of Adventurer and some offer leaflets. Seller ships worldwide.

The 1$ Rebel Assault

You might scoff at Rebel Assault and laugh in the face of FMV games, but back in 1993 they were considered cutting edge; the killer apps of the CD-ROM. Besides, Rebel Assault isn't really that bad a game and it does feature a ton of clips from the original trilogy. Actually why not spend a mere dollar on it and find out more about it for yourselves? Grab it over at magisterrex. It's the PC CD version.

SD-powered Amstrad CPC 6128

This Amstrad CPC 6128 eBay auction is simply amazing. Not only does the seller ship worldwide, but the CPC comes complete with the fantastic HxC floppy disc emulator meaning you can load your games directly from a SD card. What's more, the micro also comes with its lovely green monitor, an Amstrad joypad, ten 3" disks, a manual and an assortment of cables and other extras. Oh, and it's got both its drive belt and keyboard fully refurbished.

NEC's shiny PC-Engine LT

If you have 950£ burning a hole in your pocket then Retro Treasures reader has discovered a wonderful way to get rid of them: simply buy this pretty amazing and definitely overpriced PC Engine LT. It is after all the portable and rather fantastic gaming laptop that NEC provided PC Engine gamers with, seems to be in brilliant condition and comes with an excellent selection of extras including a proper joypad, the PSU and the complete Gunhed series of games. TurboGrafx-16 Game Converter

Playing Japanese Hu-Card PC Engine games on your US TurboGrafx-16 sounds pretty handy, doesn't it? Then again, you will be needing a pretty rare and rather expensive converter; just like the TurboGrafx-16/Turbo Duo Game Converter that recently appeared on eBay. The accessory comes boxed and is in great condition. Seller ships only within the US.

The mighty Z88

The Z88 by Cambridge Research (the company Clive Sinclair set up after selling Sinclair to Amstrad) was a pretty impressive machine. It was actually the first properly affordable and truly portable computer; it is -according to legend- still very much in use today.  The thing runs on 4 AA batteries for roughly 20 hours, sports a Z80A CPU and a multitasking OS, comes preloaded with quite a few programs, plays games and you can find out more about it via this article I wrote ages ago for Vintage Computing and Gaming.

Happily, grabbing one isn't too expensive either. Take this Z88 auction for example. It should end up costing less than the average contemporary game, and you'll be getting the fully working micro complete with its manual and carry-case. Seller ships worldwide. 

Sega Game Gear & 9 games

Excuse me for saying so, but the Sega Game Gear hasn't aged as gracefully as the Atari Lynx. A simple truth, I know, and one that can mainly be attributed to its lack of all those excellent arcade ports. Still, it's a lovably huge retro handheld in its own right and sports more than a few great and exclusive games, meaning that grabbing this Sega Game Gear & games might be a smart move. 

The console seems to be in great condition and comes with nine games, including Castle of Illusion, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Mortal Kombat and Star Wars. Seller ships only within the US.

The NeverEnding Story (Apple II)

Time for another discovery by dear Blake of the excellent ByteCellar: The NeverEnding Story. It's the complete, boxed game for the Apple II and remains one of the offerings I've been meaning to play for almost 20 years now, but never really got around to. Seller ships only within the US.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (GBA)

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past isn't the cheapest game available for the Game Boy Advance, but it definitely is both worth owning and playing. It is, after all, one of the best action RPGs ever released, quite the collectible and a truly excellent handheld port of a classic console game. Besides, it even comes complete with The Four Swords. You can easily grab a copy over at Play-Asia.

Stunt Cycle by Atari

Based on the 1975 coin-op of the same name, Stunt Cycle by Atari was released back in 1977 and is easily one of the most intriguing and, dare I say, cooler Atari consoles ever. It was, after all, designed to take advantage of the popularity of Evel Knievel's stunts and impress with its built-in motocross controller. The console came with a ton of options, several modes and difficulty levels and without a cartridge slot.

Archon for the Commodore 64

Being a brilliant blend of chess-like turn based strategy with traditional action gaming, Archon: The Light and The Dark is a properly classic, gracefully aged and actually brilliant game. Happily, it's quite cheap to grab too, even when coming in its original Electronic Arts packaging. Anyway. Here's the auction you were looking for: Archon (C64). Seller ships worldwide.

Apple II Disk Drive

They are handy those disk drives you know, especially them reading the properly floppy 5.25" diskettes. Even more so the hefty ones for the Apple II. You know, just like this Apple II Disk Drive that is being auctioned off over at eBay and seems to be in great condition. Seller ships worldwide.

Sega SG-1000

Sega's SG-1000 was released in 1983 and was thus the very first console that Sega ever released. It came with a wired controller, sported a mere 2k of VRAM and went on and eventually evolved into the Master System we all love and cherish. The console was released exclusively in Japan and is thus considered quite obscure in the West.

You can actually discover the joys of early Sega home gaming with the help of this Sega SG-1000 eBay auction. The console hasn't been tested, but does come in its box and with its manual. Seller ships worldwide.

Swiftly grab a Sinclair ZX Spectrum +2

I'm afraid you'll have to hurry with this one, as, at the time of posting, there are only five hours left till this hefty ZX Spectrum +2 auction ends. You'll be getting a fully working and Amstrad manufactured ZX Spectrum +2 complete with all the necessary bits and manual, but also an amazing 100+ original games. Sharp Twin Famicom System

Released exclusively for Japanese gamers in 1986 by Sharp, the Twin Famicom is a fantastic 8-bit console that combines a full Nintendo Famicom with a Family Computer Disk System into an elegant piece of hardware. The console is relatively rare, even more so when boxed, and you should thus probably care about this boxed Famicom System auction. Seller ships worldwide.

Bonk's Double Feature

Not one, but two whole lovely retro games to grab in one easy to digest post. I mean, really, how great is that? Especially when considering that both Bonk's Adventure and Bonk's Revenge are two of the very best platformers available for the TurboGrafx-16. Grab them both; each in its complete box! The Lurking Horror (Amiga)

Sporting excellent writing, spooky sound-effects, an incredibly evocative (and goodies filled) box, tough yet great puzzles and a brilliant modern-day Lovecraftian plot, The Lurking Horror by Infocom was (still is actually) a great piece of interactive fiction. And, yes, I did actually say so back when I retro reviewed it... I really do love the thing.

Happily you too, oh Amiga gamers, can love it or, well, love it again by owning this lovely The Lurking Horror copy. It's the complete, boxed Amiga version of the game and it does seem to be in great condition. Seller ships worldwide.

Little Samson (NES)

I don't know what's gotten into me, but I've lately been looking for rare and expensive games I frankly couldn't hope to buy. My latest discovery is none other than Little Samson for the NES. It's already selling for $400 at the time of posting with two days to go, meaning that it will obviously sell for much more than that. Then again it does come in its original box and remains an obscure Taito gem. Seller ships only within the US.
