Following that impressive Softporn Adventure auction, eBay seller JeffCowe is now giving everyone a chance to grab a lovely copy of the Wizard and the Princess for the Apple II. So, Hi-res Adventure #2 by On-Line Systems is up for grabs indeed and Sierra fans should be readying their weapons and revising their bank robbery plans... Seller ships worldwide.
I still have a copy of this with the plastic bag, although my dad's Atari 400 broke the disk back when I was like 3 years old. I wonder if that's still worth anything!
ReplyDeleteOh, but it's worth quite a lot. Most probably over 150$ I'd say.
ReplyDeleteStrange that this guy has many copies of rare games...this guy is long-known to be a forger/scammer. I wouldn't trust him--he was caught making fakes of rare Sierra games, and selling them on eBay (jeffcowe is Eyalkatz)--

Well, Anonymous I wouldn't be so sure he's a scammer, as at least one friend has bought from the guy. And he's got some phenomenal eBay rating.
ReplyDeleteNo disrespect to you, gnome, but I'm not sure you read the article. Here it is again, just in case it didn't 'take' the first time:

I'd say that this was a very thorough and forensic analysis for proof.
* There are no 'indentations' on the lettering of this game, as well as the game referred to in the article
* How many copies of this ridiculously rare game could he possibly have? Including this auction, the one in his history list, the one that he is currently selling, and the one referred to in the article, that makes 4. I didn't do a lot of digging, but I'm confident I could find at least 1 more--NOT a coincidence.
In the world of computer games, there are more than a few forgers. This guy is one of them. It sickens me that these guys get away with it only because people turn a blind eye to it.
Hmmm... truth is you make quite a case... Oh, and I never thought you were showing any kind of disrespect. Thanks! Really!
ReplyDeleteThanks for understanding, gnome. I just sometimes bring this up in forums, and folks kinda give me the stink-eye because I sound like I'm just making noise--actually, I'm trying to use my experience to help collectors keep from getting ripped off. I've been collecting Ultima and Origin games and memorabilia for a while--I've got the experience, and also know a few experienced friends. Computer game collecting is not nearly as big as videogame collecting, but there are a few titles that compare price-wise to the most expensive rare videogames out there. Akalabeth, Escape from Mt. Drash, the original Ultima, and a few Sierra and Lucas Arts games can each reach some significant digits--however, they're unfortnately some of the easiest to forge. The folks in this forum need to know about these crooks, or they'll just keep selling their forgeies.
ReplyDeleteThat's highly commendable! It's only that I'm generally very careful before accusing people of anything, really. It's nice having people that are willing to research things for the greatr good. Cheers!
