Still haven't grabbed my very own Vectrex, but if this Vectrex w/ games auctions wasn't an US only thing, I'd probably be all over it. The seller, you see, is offering a boxed Vectrex, eight games complete with their box, manual and overlays, and two boxed games without manuals. Said games are: Webwars, Spike, Bedlam, Ripoff, Berzerk, Star Castle, Cosmic Chasm, Starhawk, Scramble and Hyperchase.
That is definitely sweet and Berzerk and Star Castle were two of my faves in the arcade back in the early 80's, but 4 hundy? ouch. Only problem is every time I see one for sale and think it is too expensive the next one I see is either comparable or more. Guess if I ever want one I'll just have to be prepared to plunk down the cash and that's all there is to it.
ReplyDeleteEither that or go for an unboxed Vectrex without games. They do come in much cheaper and you can always grab the multicart. That's my plan at least :)
ReplyDeleteI do like that multicart myself as well. I also plan to grab one of those if I ever do manage to land the system one of these days.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan. I wish us luck!
ReplyDeleteThe box/manuals/overlays are part of the magic though. Having just the game is so... boring.
ReplyDeleteYes, well, I see what you mean -and sadly fully agree- but one has to start somewhere. Somewhere cheap preferably :)
ReplyDeleteThis sold for $335, and all things considered, I think that was a pretty good price!
ReplyDeleteWell, yes, considering it came with all those games. It was a most decent -though still steep- price.
ReplyDeleteConsidering I was watching another boxed Vectrex auciton that had 12 games instead that ended for $465, this one was a steal.
ReplyDeleteA most valid point I'm afraid. Still, I'd rather grab the games one at a time than shell out for a big collection myself.
