Bubble Bobble Part 2 for the NES is a great yet incredibly hard to find (especially when complete in its box) game. What's even more exceptional is a boxed copy of the thing that has never been opened. If you're prepared to spend a lot of money, well, here is the link to a Bubble Bobble Part 2 auction that will let you own such a rarity. Seller ships only within the US, but is apparently willing to discuss Canada and -why not, I suppose- more countries.
I always wonder why in the hell a developer would spend months of work and efforts on a game that will eventually be released in such limited quantities... And worst of all, we'll probably never have a copy, which sucks considering rarities are often great games.
ReplyDeleteSadly it's probably the same sort of reason why sculptors spend weeks and months developing toys that never make it to store shelves - it takes a long time to make these sorts of things, and during that interval market conditions and customer buying habits cause companies to change their minds.
ReplyDeleteBut for sure - it's a shame!
@ Mik: Well, we could always push for public gaming museums where everyone will be able to play such gems for free! An excellent idea, if I may so myself. Guess they'll be needing a currator.
ReplyDelete@ Charlie: Words of true wisdom. I fully agree!
It's ideas like a public gaming museum that encourage me to work extra hard on my software gigs in the hopes that I could one day earn enough to do that, and of course hire you, gnome, to orchestrate the show!
ReplyDeleteHooray! A most excellent plan indeed. Work on them gigs asap!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great game...what a great game...repeat at nauseam
ReplyDeleteI do see your point dear Blake, but, frankly, never expected it to go for over 5000$!
