Robotron 2084 (Atari Lynx)

With the reputation of the handheld that could really tackle arcade ports, the Atari Lynx had no problem getting itself a truly impressive port of Eugene Jarvis' classic (and by then already retro) Robotron twin-stick shmup. Shadow of the Beast II (Amiga)

An update both graphically and in terms of gameplay to the stunning original, Shadow of the Beast II by Psygnosis was one of those games that defined the Amiga; at least in my mind. I generally do try and mix things up in Retro Treasures, but I just had to break my (never really revealed) posting rules in order to let you lovely vintage gaming people know about this pretty excellent ZX Spectrum eBay auction. This particular, beautiful Sinclair micro comes with a new membrane for its keyboard, and a very handy composite mod that will allow you to connect it to modern TVs.

Ultima: Quest of the Avatar (NES)

I have never played any western RPG on Nintendo's venerable 8-bit console, but I can't help but be intrigued by this Ultima: Quest for the Avatar (NES) eBay auction. As for the game itself, it is supposed to be a slightly different, slightly cut-down of the classic Quest of the Avatar CRPG which is definitely a good thing.

One Fine ZX Spectrum+

It may not look as sleek or unique as the original Speccy models, but the improved keyboard and the reset switch of the ZX Spectrum Plus more than make up for the micro's bulkier size.
