Sega Genesis CDX

Time for a traditional Sega rarity: a Sega Genesis CDX is being auctioned off on eBay. It's all about a boxed, working and apparently well-preserved console complete with manual, controller and games. Seller ships worldwide. Oh, and yes, the CDX is indeed a Genesis and a Sega CD all cramped into a sleek and actually handy case.

Sega Mega CD Karaoke

One of the rarest add-ons to the Japanese NTSC Sega MegaDrive, the Sega Mega CD Karaoke, is a full-fledged karaoke machine that requires both Sega's 16-bit console and its CD expansion. It comes bundled with a microphone and all the required cables and manuals, and you can grab a complete boxed one off of this Sega Mega CD Karaoke eBay listing. The Tempest Arcade Cabinet

One of Atari's finest moments and an excellent vector-based shooter, Tempest remains an exquisite game, that's best experienced in its arcade form. Oh, and as the original cabinet does look lovely, you might be interested in this Tempest Arcade eBay auction. It's not cheap (but sensibly priced), the seller's shipping worldwide and the cabinet is in fully working condition.

Probotector II (NES)

Probotector, the European version of Contra, eventually got its action-packed and excruciatingly titled Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces sequel, which eventually became a rare and collectible game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Bid on a complete, boxed version of this game over at this Probotector II (NES) auction; seller ships worldwide.

Amstrad CPC 464 & 65 games

One fully working Amstrad CPC 464 with its colour monitor is up for grabs via this eBay auction, though it can only be shipped within the UK. The micro is accompanied by 65 boxed games that include Turbo Out Run, R-Type, Tetris, Fantasy World Dizzy, Renegade, Football Manager, BMX Simulator and Ghostbusters 2.

Commodore's 8-bit Max Machine

The micro US gamers knew as the Ultimax and German gamers as the VC-10 was introduced to Japan as the Commodore MAX Machine. This Japanese, mainly cartridge based 8-bit micro is nowadays considered quite the rarity (even more so outside Japan) and you can bid on it via this Commodore MAX eBay auction. It's an apparently complete, boxed micro that even comes with an Avengers cartridge.

Commodore Amiga CDTV & Accessories

You'd better hurry for this one, as this CDTV auction will be over in a few hours, but it will be worth your while. You'll be getting an Amiga CDTV console, smart-TV thingy in great condition, complete with its remote/controller, a disk drive and that shiny keyboard. Seller ships worldwide.

Boxed Bandai SwanCrystal

The Bandai SwanCrystal was the final and best version of the WonderSwan handheld and sported a truly crisp colour screen. It is also probably the rarest of the series these days too, meaning that retro gamers should be more than happy that this wonderful SwanCrystal just appeared on eBay. It's the complete boxed red version of the console and even comes with an equally boxed version of Final Fantasy II.

Rescue on Franctalus! (C64/128)

I like to consider the voxel-based, sci-fi flying sim Rescue on Fractalus! by Lucasfilm as the predecessor to X-Wing, but you can safely ignore me. Besides, no matter how you look at it, the game was an innovation in both design and tech, and one of the first properly scary (rarely, but effectively) 8-bit offerings.

To own a boxed copy of the thing, you could bid on this Rescue on Fractalus! eBay auction. It's the 5.25" disk version for the Commodore 64/128 and comes with instructions, disk and clamshell case. Seller ships to most places worldwide.

Ultima II by Sierra (Apple II)

Richard Garriott's first RPGs were published by Sierra, which, as we all know, really knew how to put a bog together. This copy of Ultima II (Apple II) currently being auctioned over at eBay is a fine example of both a great game and a rich box. As an added bonus the box and included map on offer have been signed by Richard Garriott.

Akumajou Dracula Castlevania (Famicom Disk)

Supposing you own both a Famicom and its Disk System, you'll be wanting some classic games on disk to play on your lovely Japanese set-up. Well, this Akumajou Dracula Castlevania auction should be for you then. It's the complete, boxed disk of the brilliant Castlevania game, it's in good condition and the seller's shipping to the Americas, Asia, Europe and Australia.

Over 61 games for the ZX Spectrum

Here's a nice (and most probably cheap) bundle of over 61 ZX Spectrum games on tapes currently being auctioned over at eBay. The collection includes such great games as Barbarian II, Dun Darach, Formula Simulator, Heavy on the Magick, Action Force, Zub and Oh Mummy.

Amiga CD32 Critical Zone Package

Would have really enjoyed a Commodore Amiga CD32 console back in the day and, truth be said, this Amiga CD32 Critical Zone Package auction is pretty tempting, though handily only available to UK residents. What's on offer is one Amiga CD32 in its well preserved box complete with all the original offerings: joypad, manuals, control pad, power supply, leads and seven games including Cannon Fodder, Diggers and Project-X.

Torin's Passage (PC)

Al Lowe's lovely fantasy adventure, Torin's Passage by Sierra, can be yours in its hefty original box via this Torin's Passage (PC) eBay auction. Interestingly this is a factory sealed copy of the game and the seller is shipping worldwide.

Working, boxed Oric Atmos

The brilliantly named Tangerine Computer Systems released the Oric Atmos, the successor to the modestly successful Oric-1, back in 1984. The micro sported the same 6502A CPU the Oric-1 had and was actually more or less the same machine, albeit with a vastly improved keyboard, more available accessories and a debugged ROM. Also, the Atmos was the more beautiful of the two.

As the Atmos is nowadays quite the rarity, you'll be happy to know that this particular Oric Atmos has recently appeared on eBay. The auction is for a working, boxed computer, a mostly working disk drive, the manual, two books, a selection of disks and a few more bits and pieces. AD&D Monster Manual (TSR, 1st edition)

Retro analog gamers and collectors will be ecstatic to know that a 1st print of the 1st edition of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual book has surfaced on eBay and can be bought via this Monster Manual auction. It is one of TSR's rare offerings that dates back to 1977. Seller ships only within the US and the auction will be over in less than 15 hours from the time of posting.

TurboGrafx-16 & CD & Games

The US version of the PC Engine, the not quite brilliantly named TurboGrafx-16, was the same excellent arcade playing machine its Japanese counterpart was, only bigger and black. Appropriately it also got its CD expansion too, the then innovative TurboGrafx-CD, and you can grab the complete set of NEC's console via this TurboGrafx-16 & CD auction.

Shadow of the Beast II (Amiga)

Ah, yes, the stunning and punishing Shadow of the Beast II for the 16-bit powerhouse that was Amiga; and it's up for auction in its impressively illustrated big box too! Seven games on seven tapes in their seven little boxes for the Amstrad CPC 464 can be yours via this eBay auction for, well, 7 CPC games. They are all Firebird/Silverbird releases and among them you'll find such Retro Treasures favourites as Thrust, Spiky Harold and Mr. Freeze. Seller ships to the Americas, Europe and Australia.

Track & Field (Atari 2600)

Track & Field for the Atari 2600 is one of the best coin-op conversions ever published for the system, but also a rare and wonderful game that came with a unique and sturdy dedicated controller that should endure the harshest of button-mashing. You can grab a complete copy of the game with manual, said controller and cartridge via this Track & Field (Atari 2600) auction.

Commodore 64 w/ Disk Drive & Tape Recorder

Truth be said, in order to enjoy the full spectrum of the C64 gaming library one would have to play games both off tapes and disks and that is why this Commodore 64 auction is a particularly handy one. Not only will you be getting a tested and working C64, but also the 1541 disk drive and a Datassette unit. Also, all the required cables, some manuals and a few games including Ghostbusters, Gauntlet and Operation Wolf.

The World's Largest Video Game Collection

Sporting 10,607 games and having been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest video game collection, Michael Thomasson's hugely famous collection is up for auction over at GameGavel. The collection features 21 systems and complete catalogues for several platforms such as the Lynx and Dreamcast and, according to Polygon, is worth over $700,000. Actually, it's stunning and the bids have already climbed beyond $100,000, though it'd be wiser, instead of bidding, to have a look at this awesome video of the collection.

Manhunter 2: San Francisco (Atari ST)

I still haven't decided what I think of Sierra's bizarre, (relatively) gory, humorous, sci-fi and rather dark Manhunter series, but I do know a sealed, boxed copy of Manhunter 2: San Francisco for the Atari ST is worth owning. An intriguing game, in a rich box, for a classic 16-bit machine.

Oh, and the auction does seem to be moving towards a sensible price, while the seller's shipping worldwide with the exceptions of Zambia and Indonesia.

Mega Man X3 (SNES)

Well, if you know how rare the SNES Mega Man X3 cartridge is and are willing to pay a couple hundred dollars to own one, you'll be glad to know you now have a chance at outbidding everyone for this Mega Man X3 cartridge. It's a well preserved and working cart and it even comes with a 30 days warranty. Seller ships worldwide.

Mark I Sega Master System

Besides looking better than its revised edition and all pyramid-shaped, the Sega Master System Mark I was indeed the better and more expensive console, if only for its support of games on PC Engine-like cards and hence 3D glasses. Then again, this Master System I (NTSC) on eBay only comes with games on 7 cartridges (incl. Fantasy Zone, Space Harrier and Hang On), but it's fully working, sports two controllers and looks all lovely.

Pac-Man Mini-Arcade (boxed)

Coleco's 1981 Official Pac-Man Arcade has been put up for auction and remains as enticing as the last time I ran into it. It is a beautiful miniature arcade cabinet that plays an impressively decent game of Pac-Man, supports multiplayer and even sports a couple of interesting variations to the main gameplay idea. What's more, the arcade on offer comes in its original box, works fine and can be shipped worldwide.

Fire - tricOtronic Game & Watch

Nintendo's Fire Game & Watch, or Hilfe, es brennt! in German, also had a German tric-O-tronic version made; a version that is rather collectible. Also, a version you can grab via this Fire tric-O-tronic auction. The handheld comes complete in its box and the seller's shipping worldwide.

Six Atari Jaguar Games

Four of the best Atari Jaguar games ever released (Tempest 2000, DOOM, Syndicate and Raiden) and two incredibly dull racing sims (Club Drive and Checkered Flag) can be yours via this Jaguar Games auction. All games are boxed and come with instructions. Seller ships only within the UK.

Fresh Homebrew: Shoot 'Em Up Destruction Set 3 (Commodore 64)

The time has come for Retro Treasures to start properly covering new, indie/homebrew releases for vintage systems; releases, of course, that come in proper, physical boxes and feel delightfully retro -- not just downloads. Kicking off the Fresh Homebrew series of posts is none other than Psytronik's 2014 Shoot 'Em Up Destruction Set 3. A fantastic shoot-'em-up collection for the Commodore 64 which offers six new, full games that come complete with Oliver's Fray cover artwork and all the bells and whistles of a modern release.

The collection is available on 5.25" disk (deluxe or budget) and on tape for the C64.

LucasArts Star Wars NES Prototype

A prototype dev cartridge of LucasArts' Star Wars game for the NES can be grabbed via this eBay auction. It is obviously exceedingly rare, highly collectible and the seller is shipping worldwide.

Family Computer Disk System (Boxed)

It was released exclusively in Japan and can only run Nintendo Famicom software, but the Family Computer Disk System remains a fantastic machine to collect for and play on -- provided you have a Famicom to hook it up with and love its unique floppy disks, that is. Web Wars (Vectrex)

Straight from the early '80s and for the best vector based gaming machine ever... it's Web Wars for the Vectrex! Well, an auction for the game to be precise, but it really is lovely and actually complete in its box with cartridge, manual and screen overlay. Seller ships worldwide, though excludes quite a few countries. 

Match Day II (C64)

Jon Ritman's classic 8-bit football game, Match Day II, can be grabbed for a penny less than three pounds over at this Match Day II eBay listing. It's the PAL Commodore 64 version and it comes complete with  its instructions. Seller ships worldwide.

NEC PC Engine LT

It was never cheap and it keeps getting more expensive with each passing year, but at least you can still get a NEC PC Engine LT on eBay for less than $1000. This particular one is fully working and comes with an AC adapter. It also is as lovely as all those strange and rare NEC handhelds/gaming laptops of sorts, and it does of course play all the PC Engine games. Seller ships worldwide (with a few exceptions).

Sega MegaDrive & Mega CD

A Sega MegaDrive & Mega CD bundle has appeared on eBay and UK residents interested in some classic 16-bit gaming should definitely have a look. Besides the MegaDrive and Mega CD consoles (both Mark I) the highest bidder will also be getting all the required cables and a selection of 18 games on 5 CDs and 7 cartridges. Among said 18 titles you'll find Road Avenger, Streets of Rage, Alien 3, Columns and Sol-Feace.

Street Fighter Zero 3 & RAM Cart (Saturn)

Street Fighter Zero 3, one of the finest one-on-one fighting games ever launched for a console, could be yours if you outbid everyone else on this Street Fighter Zero 3 auction. It's the rare, boxed Japanese NTSC Sega Saturn version we are talking about -- the one that comes complete with the 4MB RAM expansion on cartridge.

ZX Spectrum +2 w/ games

Ah, yes, the handy, all-in-one 128k version of the Speccy by Amstrad... Didn't have one of these appear on Retro Treasures for quite some time, but, well, here's a great ZX Spectrum +2 auction for you now. The micro is in full working order and is accompanied by its manual, power unit and a selection of games that includes Cobra, the Screen Heroes compilation, Fantasy World Dizzy and The New Zealand Story.

Outcast (PC)

Outcast was published for Windows in 1999 by Infogrames and, though not a wild success, it became an innovative and instant classic. Its unique voxel graphics, the huge detailed (open) world, a wild plot and  the intriguing gameplay assured Outcast's seat in the late '90s pantheon of PC games. Oh, and here's a making of of Outcast to further enlighten you.

Factory sealed Game Boy DMG-01

The original and highly successful Nintendo GameBoy from 1989 can now be bought complete in its (appropriately rare) factory sealed box via this GameBoy auction. The box contains the console, a Tetris cartridge, 4 AA batteries, stereo headphones and the multiplayer cable. The seller ships to most places worldwide.

Fallout (PC)

The original big box of the original Fallout is quite the collector's piece and a rare and highly sought after PC game -- a candidate for every collection's cornerstone. It also happens to be one of the best CRPGs ever created and, well, the winner of this Fallout (PC) auction will be a most fortunate person indeed.

It's the complete big box version of the game they'll be getting; the one with the gatefold cover. It includes the CD, spiral bound manual, quick reference card, troubleshooting guide, and two advertisement sheets. Everything seems to be in great condition and the seller ships worldwide.
