Sega 3-D Glasses (Master System)

The Sega Master System may have not been able to take on the NES in Japan and the US, but it was a powerful and innovative console that did great in both Europe and Brasil. What's more, it was the first popular console to bring decent stereoscopic 3D gaming home with its impressive Sega 3-D Glasses. Oh, and you could actually experience them by bidding on this Sega 3-D Glasses (boxed) auction. Seller ships worldwide.

The Golden Commodore 64

After flooding Germany with 1,000,000 C64s, Commodore decided to celebrate 1986 by creating a very limited number of 200 golden edition Commodore 64s (screwed on a lovely commemorative plate) and giving them away to select partners. Rather obviously, these machines have now evolved into true collectors items. You can apparently try and grab one via this C64 Goldene Edition auction. Seller ships worldwide.

The Spectravideo CompuMate

The CompuMate by Spectravideo was a rather unique add-on for the Atari 2600 console, that almost turned Atari's all conquering games machine into a home micro. It added a keyboard that attached itself to the 2600, some extra RAM, a version of BASIC, a simple music synthesizer program, a rudimentary drawing utility and even provided with the option to connect to a tape recorder.

As the accessory didn't fare all that well it is quite rare, but you can easily grab one for a reasonable price. This boxed CompuMate Spectravision on eBay seems like a pretty decent offer. It does after all come in its shiny original box. Seller ships only within the US.

Contra & Super Contra (NES)

The best of classic games are not (well, not necessarily) the most expensive ones, which happily means that this Contra & Super Contra eBay auction for the Nintendo NES will end up being more than affordable. And of course brilliant. Both cartridges are in fine working condition and the seller ships only within the US.

Reconditioned Amstrad CPC 6128

Ah, the lovely Amstrad CPC 6128. I've regularly sang its praises and will thus skip this part and point you to this CPC 6128 Buy It Now offer that recently appeared on eBay. Not only will you be getting said excellent 8-bit micro complete with its colour monitor at a decent price, but you'll also be getting your hands on a CPC that has been fully reconditioned, had its drive-belt changed and its innards thoroughly cleaned. Seller ships only within the UK.

Original 128k boxed Macintosh

The original Macintosh was much more than an innovative personal computer. It was a thing of beauty. An excellently designed and incredibly elegant machine that, despite being very expensive indeed, managed to appeal to every creative and digitally oriented person. Impressively the machine, its excellent GUI and that compact, crisp black and white screen have aged to perfection.

Anyway. Time to get to this post's point and share with you an amazing Macintosh 128k eBay auction that is so very tempting. The seller is actually offering a complete, boxed, original Macinstosh that even comes  with its styrofoams. You will among other stuff be getting the properly original keyboard, mouse, 128k power cord,  owner's manual, Tour of Macintosh tape & diskette, MacPaint, MacWrite, Alice Through The Looking Glass, some Apple stickers and quite a few more disks. Seller ships worldwide!

Choplifter! for the Atari XE

The XE version of Choplifter! is a great 8-bit conversion of the classic game, sporting some detailed graphics, responsive controls and impressive parallax scrolling. You can buy a happily boxed Choplifter! cartridge via this aptly titled Choplifter! XE auction. The game comes complete with its manual, though the seller ships only within the US.

The Texas Instruments TI-99/4

We are all so comfortable with the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A micro, that we apparently keep forgetting its humbler and much rarer predecessor: the TI-99/4. Released in 1979 and sporting a calculator-esque keyboard while also lacking in graphics abilities, the computer was very soon surpassed by the 4A only to end up being the more collectible model.

To own one, do have a look at this pretty impressive Texas Instuments TI-99/4 auction. Not only will you be getting a working micro complete with everything you'll need to get it running, but also a great selection of manuals, guides, programs and games. Seller ships only within the US.

Slime World Prototype (Atari Lynx)

Todd's Adventures in Slime World is a truly fantastic game. One of the very best to ever appear on the Atari Lynx. It is huge, smart, unique and visually stunning. Interestingly though, this post is not about the game itself, but its much rarer prototype which seems to have just surfaced on eBay. You can bid on it via this Slime World Prototype auction. Seller ships worldwide.

The prototype, an employees-only demo apparently, is a cartridge that wasn't supposed to be sold and sports quite a few interesting differences when compared to the final product. The game, among other stuff, keeps dropping four players in each level, allows you to, uhm, try again and restore, has certain graphical differences and a totally different title screen.

Zork II Dungeon Guide Map

Zork II: The Wizard of Frobozz might not be as maddeningly difficult as its prequel, but it most definitely remains a very taxing game indeed. The map you see above, the 1982 Zork II Dungeon Guide Map by the Zork Users Group, will not only help you with the adventure itself, but also make for a beautiful and rare collectible. Bid on it via this Zork II Map auction. Seller ships worldwide.

Boxed ZX Spectrum 128

If you live in the UK and want a boxed and well-preserved Sinclair ZX Spectrum 128 with a lovely heat-sink to keep your coffee warm, you should definitely have a look at this Speccy 128 auction. It's such a lovely machine...

Nintendo's Top Loading Famicom

Today is apparently (and according to at least two of my friends) the day of interesting Japanese versions of Nintendo consoles and that's why I'm now linking to this Top Loading Famicom auction. The console is allegedly unused and comes in its original box. Also, it's almost rare and a passably obscure Nintendo 8-bit offering. Also also, seller ships only within the US.

Nintendo Super Famicom

The Super Famicom, the original, Japanese version of the SNES, is a truly classic 16-bit console as all of us very well know. Besides, it will also let you enjoy tons of brilliant Japan only releases. And it's quite collectible too. You can grab a boxed one via this Super Famicom auction. Seller ships worldwide.

10 lovely C64 Games

I somehow restrained myself from making some sort of FOR i=1 TO 10 NEXT C64 GAME joke for this post's title, but, apparently, nobody is perfect. Still, you should really have a look at this auction for 10 Commodore 64 games. The seller is shipping worldwide and is offering 10 boxed games, among which you'll find Kick Off 2, Out Run, Double Dragon, Crazy Kong and Quasimodo.

Commodore Amiga 500 NiB

The Commodore Amiga 500 is much more than the ultimate 16-bit gaming machine: it's usually cheap to grab and collect for. Apparently though it can also turn out to be a pretty pricey investment (yeah, right) too, as this fantastic Amiga 500 auction should emphatically prove. It is after all the original Amiga 500; unopened, unused, practically new in its complete box. Everything seems to be in brilliant condition and the seller ships only within the US.

N64 Hello Mac Controller

You most probably shouldn't care for this post -unless of course you'd care to see an unboxed Nintendo 64 controller that's bound to sell for more than $1000- but if you actually do care, well, this N64 Hello Mac controller auction is definitely one for you. Seller ships worldwide.

Bury the Monsters

Bury the Monsters by Romtec is a rather obscure and relatively rare (I think) LCD handheld, that was released back in 1982 and isn't wholly dissimilar to a Game & Watch. I suppose you could discover more about it if you grabbed this Bury the Monsters handheld that recently appeared on eBay. The machine is in decent working condition and the seller ships worldwide.

Ultima Escape From Mt. Drash (VIC-20)

Ultima: Escape From Mt. Drash is one of the rarest games a collector can own and most probably the rarest thing you can buy for your Commodore VIC-20. Despite being a Sierra release and carrying the Ultima name, you see, it was never really properly marketed and was released incredibly late in the VIC-20's life. Besides, and as Richard Garriott did not create the game, Sierra only produced a few thousand copies of the game (estimated at around 3000) many of which seem to have been lost, making sure that the few copies that surface sell for quite a bot more than $1000.

As you may have already guessed another copy of Ultima: Escape From Mt. Drash has resurfaced on eBay and is already gathering the bidders' attention. Actually, it has even managed to attract Richard Garriott himself, who has finally made it clear that he did approve of the game's Ultima name. Anyway, back to the auction; it's a US only affair and you'll be getting the game on a tape and its manual. Mind you, just reading through the auction's text is worth your time. It's an amazingly detailed entry this one...

Commodore 64 Game System & games

Ah, yes, a favourite failed console: the Commodore 64 Games System (a.k.a. C64gs). A full Commodore 64 in an ugly box without the keyboard. Gotta love it I suppose and possibly bid on this C64 GS auction too. The console is fully working and comes with a joystick, the manual and quite a few games, among which you'll be happy to find Klax, International Soccer and the brilliant and quite rare Shadow of the Beast. Seller ships worldwide.

Wireless Remote Video Controllers

The evolution of the wireless controller was rather slow and painful as those two, otherwise lovely and most definitely boxed, Wireless Remote Video Controllers should easily demonstrate. They drain batteries fast and their range is quite limited, but, hey they are retro, lovely and compatible with everything from an Atari 2600 to Commodore 64. Seller ships worldwide.

Beat 'em & Eat 'em (Atari 2600)

Mystique, the notorious publisher of faux-porn for the Atari 2600, had quite a few gaming atrocities released under its Swedish Erotica label.  Beat 'em & Eat 'em is easily one of the worse yet more lavishly packaged offenders and thus a game lustfully sought after by collectors, who will be happy to bid on this CiB Beat 'em & Eat 'em cartridge. Seller ships worldwide. And no, this is as far from NSFW as humanly possible.

The Milton Bradley Simon Game

Invented by the so-called father of video games Ralph Baer and Howard Morrison (with a little software help by Lenny Cope) MB's Simon game was released in 1978. Impressively and despite its simplicity it turned out to be a huge success, survived well into the 80s and got itself countless re-imaginings and sequels. Weird, I know, especially considering Simon's gameplay consisted of replicating tunes played by the machine in a way that has plagued too many an adventure game.

Anyway. Simon was an interesting and successful digital novelty/game thingy that's definitely worth owning, if only for nostalgia reasons. This boxed Simon auction on eBay sounds particularly interesting too, as the seller ships worldwide and is giving away the complete boxed game.

Fantastic ZX Spectrum Collection

The Sinclair ZX Spectrum, the 8-bit micro of the people, doesn't usually make itself available for retro collectors outside Europe. The fact then that the seller of this pretty fantastic ZX Spectrum collection ships worldwide should be reason enough for a Retro Treasures post. Impressively though there's much more to this auction than that. This particular 48k Speccy comes complete in an oh-so-tidy computer case and with all its expansions, namely Interface 1, Interface 2, the Microdrive and the Sinclair printer.

What's more, you'll also be getting an unused roll of printer paper (!), quite a few Microdrive cartridges, an interesting selection of related books and some pretty fantastic games. Among said games do expect to find Jetpac, Ant Attack, Galaxians and Hungry Horace.

Frogger Mini Arcade

Back in 1982 when it was released, the Coleco / Sega take on Frogger must have been most impressive. Then again, it still is. It does after all resemble Nintendo's arcade-like Game & Watch series, sports a multi-color display, two difficulty settings and two game modes. Oh, yes, and it does indeed look like a lovely, miniature arcade cabinet too. To own it complete in its original box, you could try this Frogger Tabletop Arcade auction. Seller ships worldwide. It's quite the rarity, mind.

Boxed Sega Master System

If you've been looking for a boxed, complete and fully working Mark I Sega Master System in excellent condition, well, this Sega Master System auction is definitely one for you. The console is almost new and in a complete and impressively preserved boxed, that includes everything from the manual and the lightgun to the two-games cartridge and some retro advertising material. Seller ships worldwide.

Star Wars: Tie Fighter (PC)

We all loved Wing Commander, but when Lucasarts released X-Wing we instantly found out how a truly great space-fighting sim should feel. Then Star Wars: Tie Fighter was unleashed and everything else since and before paled into comparison, for this was the absolutely best flight-sim ever. It was tactical, fast, deep, exciting, looked brilliant, felt epic and even sported an excellent plot. Ah, yes, a true gem indeed and one of the most important PC classics.

Mind you, you can (and most probably should) grab the complete, boxed Star Wars: Tie Fighter over at magisterrex.  The game includes the original game box, all five 3.5" game disks, the Starfighter Pilot Manual, the reference card, and the troubleshooting guide.

Exile for the BBC Micro

If there is one game that absolutely defined the BBC Micro and showed off what it could actually pull off, it has to be Exile. Well, yes, and Elite too obviously, but Retro Treasures reader Joel did discover an excellent Exile auction, not an Elite one. See? I knew you would. Besides, deep, sci-fi arcade-adventures with such physics are still impressing gamers around the globe and this particular copy is in excellent condition.

It comes complete in its excellently preserved packaging with the manual, the novella and the key control guide that originally accompanied it. Seller ships worldwide. Oh, and we are indeed talking about the Acornsoft / Superior Software release for the BBC micro.

A lovely Apple II GS

I always believed that Apple's game and creativity focused 16-bit micro should have done better, but, well, it didn't. Seems like the Amiga and the Atari ST were too powerful for it, though this really shouldn't stop you from bidding on this lovely Apple II GS. It's got everything (besides one key) -including some software and what you see on the picture above- and comes with some extremely decent shipping. Then again, the seller ships only within the US.

eBay Rampage: Sierra On-Line

Started by husband and wife team Ken and Roberta Williams, Sierra On-Line (formerly On-Line Systems) went on to revolutionize the adventure genre and become a truly powerful graphic adventure developer and publisher. It produced countless classics such as the King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry and Gabriel Knight series before fading away into the bowels of the corporate world. Here are some of the most interesting Sierra offerings currently available on eBay:

The original King's Quest (PC). US, ends 4 Dec. 2011.

Laura Bow II: The Dagger of Amon Ra (PC). Worldwide, ends 6 Dec. 2011.

Jones in the Fast Lane (PC). Worldwide, ends 5 Dec. 2011.

Code-Name: Iceman (PC). Worldwide, ends 4 Dec. 2011.

Leisure Suit Larry Collection (PC). Worldwide, Buy It Now.

Phantasmagoria (PC). Worldwide, ends 6 Dec. 2011.

Conquests of Camelot (PC). Worldwide, Buy It Now.

Red Baron (Amiga). Worldwide, Buy it Now.

One Enterprise Computer

Intelligent Systems, mostly a developer of chess computers and programs, released the incredibly ambitious Enterprise 8-bit computer back in 1985. And though its 256-colours, 672x512 graphics were indeed impressive, as were the machine's Spectrum compatibility, cartridge port and built-in joystick, the micro flopped. It was after all facing both them established 8-bits and the shiny new 16-bit computers. It is thus nowadays quite a rarity. You can find out more about the Enterprise over at Wikipedia, Alive, Enterprise Forever and binary dinosaurs.

You can grab one of 128k versions of these unique 8-bit micros via this Enterprise 128 auction. The computer is in full working order, seems to be in great aesthetic condition and comes with a BASIC cartridge and everything you'll need to get it running. Seller ships only within the UK, though pleading could indeed do wonders. Or, well, so I hope.

The Guild of Thieves (Atari ST)

Magnetic Scrolls was the European equivalent of Infocom and also a fantastic text adventure developer that was more than eager to incorporate graphics and handy interfaces to its interactive fiction. What's more, its games were consistently brilliant, well-written, challenging and quite lavishly boxed, as this lovely copy of The Guild of Thieves (Atari ST) will no doubt demonstrate. It is also very well priced indeed, and as you can see above comes complete with all them lovable feelies. Seller ships to N. and S. America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Pocketsize Donkey Kong Game & Watch

Not only is the Pocketsize Donkey Kong one of the rarest Game & Watch handhelds around, but actually finding one in excellent condition and complete in its box is even rarer, and that's why financially independent collectors should definitely have a look at this Donkey Kong G&W auction. It will not be cheap, but it will earn you a virtually new Donkey Kong in its very own mint box, complete with manuals, batteries and all those leaflets Nintendo used to stuff things with. Seller ships worldwide.

Acorn BBC Master

The Acorn BBC Master, besides sporting a pretty cool name, was a lovely and rather powerful 8-bit micro, that was built as the successor to the popular BBC B micro, with which it was (mostly) compatible. The Master came with 128k RAM of RAM, a slightly faster processor and, well, you can discover everything there is to it by actually grabbing one.

This Acorn BBC Master auction should come in handy then. The computer comes in its original box and polys, is accompanied by a disk-drive and even has a selection of lovely games available for it. Among them you will find such classics as Elite, Frak Barbarian II, Repton Through Time, Qwak and Mr Wiz. Seller ships only to UK addresses, but asking for overseas shipments might actually work.

Sega MegaDrive (boxed)

The US called it the Sega Genesis, the rest of the world did indeed call Sega's 16-bit powerhouse the Sega MegaDrive and everyone agrees that it was indeed a pretty brilliant and historically important console. Now,  to own a fully boxed specimen you could bid on this Sega Mega Drive auction. It's the European PAL version, comes complete in its box with manual, cables and TV adapter, and is accompanied by two control-pads and eight quality games (including Sonic 2, Toe Jam & Earl and Castle of Illusion). Seller ships worldwide.
