The Atari 2600, the console that essentially kickstarted modern video gaming, remains the biggest step in the history of digital gaming, but also a platform on which several classic games were spawned and can still be enjoyed. Atari XE Video Game System

Based on the Atari 8-bit computers range, the Atari XE Video Game System (Atari XEGS) was released in 1987 and tried to merge micros and consoles under a cute, pal coloured hood. Despite being pleasing to the eye, decently priced, interesting and backwards compatible it never set the world on fire.

Still, owning one is definitely worth the effort and price and any interested parties should have a look at this Atari XEGS eBay auction. The fully working console comes complete with keyboard, lightgun and four games: One-On-One Basketball, Fight Night, Bug Hunt and Flight Simulator II. Seller ships worldwide.

Commodore Amiga 1000

The original, beautiful, collectible and usually very expensive Amiga 1000 can apparently be grabbed for acceptable amounts of money, provided this Amiga 1000 eBay auction doesn't suddenly attract mad and rich bidders. The computer on offer is fully working and tested and despite some yellowing still looks lovely.

The computer comes with keyboard, system disks and power-cord (no, the monitor's not included). Seller ships worldwide.

Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss (DOS)

I haven't played Ultima Underwold I since 1998 (I believe), but I can still vividly remember its awe-inspiring architecture and amazing mechanics. Its atmosphere and engrossing gameplay also, but I digress. What you need to know is that said classic, innovative 3D RPG can be grabbed in its box via this Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss (DOS) eBay auction.

The game comes in its box with four 3.5" disks, manual, background booklet, install guide, reference card, map, registration card, catalog and a couple of leaflets. Seller ships worldwide.

Sinclair QL & Printer

Sinclair's 16-bit business computer, the wonderful if ill thought out Sinclair QL, remains an important micro and a retro computer worth having. Despite being aimed at the professional/serious home user and coming with a variety of business software, the QL also got itself its fair share of gaming software and even some handy peripherals, you see.

As one would expect from a Retro Treasures post, well, here's a pretty excellent Sinqlair QL auction on eBay. The computer comes complete in its box with manuals, power adapter and software (QL Abacus, Archive, Easel and Quill) on microdrive cartridges. It is also accompanied by the equally boxed, dot-matrix Sinclair Printer.

They Sold A Million (CPC)

Used to love 8-bit game compilations and, admittedly, They Sold A Million was one of the very best ones. Sporting best-sellers Sabre Wulf, Daley Thomson's Decathlon, Beach-Head and Jet Set Willy was both a marketing masterstroke and an offer of incredible value for money. It still is actually, as this They Sold A Million (CPC) eBay auction for the Amstrad CPC will most probably only sell for a few pounds -- in a few hours too, so better hurry.

Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (SNES)

I distinctly remember not playing any of the Super Star Wars games when they were originally launched. The Empire Strikes Back comes on its cartridge with box and manual. Seller ships to the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and Malaysia.

CP/M on the go: The Philips P2000C

Running CP/M applications on the go must have sounded almost magical back in the days of the Philips P2000C and, to be perfectly honest, certainly holds a certain charm today -- provided you are not using emulators that is. Actually, you could grab a fully working Phillips P2000C off of the Classic Computer Shop, complete with two disk drives, 640k of RAM, all sorts of disks, the power cable, the floppy drive head protectors and see what the fuss was all about.
